Found this interesting article so decided to share it. Worrying?Tree loss mapped in 'near real time' BBC News - New online tool tracks tree loss in 'near real time'

Good spot! Shame they didn't put a link in the article, maybe early days for public access. Interesting to see Nestle / Unilever involvement - corporations seeking to prove credibility of resources.

Of course there is also UK funding - maybe the age of austerity doesn't extend beyond the UK public. I really think the UK public will lose tolerance with funding for projects such as this and the myriad of ring fenced foreign aid projects.

Ah, I was going to post that too.

I notice that there is significant tree loss in the North.

Now that there are power stations that burn conifer wood chips I wonder what impact this will have on forestry.

If there are more planted than harvested then all good, a sustainable short carbon cycle is achieved.

:laola:My two 8 year old girls helped plant over 100 trees this weekend to enhance a woodland edge. Hopefully they have inspired others to do the same. Great event organised by the Wildlife Watch Group (children's wing of the Wildlife Trust). Proud of them for taking this subject seriously.
