Tax software

What tax software do you guys use to do your self assessments.

I have always done my own for the last 10 years on other businesses.

Thought it about time I started using some professional software other than my own spreadsheets for my son's new start up business. One, it hopefully will help him in the future to grow the business and two, just makes the accounting easier to do our selves or pass on to an accountant.

I have been looking at something like Sage as we can use it for payroll, vat and invoicing.

Recently tried quickbook the self employed version after my accountant became very unreliable. Seems really good. Did my 15-16 self assement with it by uploading by bank details and clicking business or personal for all the transactions within 2 hours. Gets quicker after a few as you can create rules for example money going out to esso is a vehicle expense so they all get labelled

I use QB online. I'd recommend it. Couple of minor complains (cant drag and drop a pdf invoice from outlook directly and syncing issues with Barclays) but pretty good still.

Good for VAT, seems easy enough for payroll although there is still manual setting up/confusing bits when setting up a new employee).
