About two months ago a friend of mine said he was making me a new knife for working in arb.

Being as though he can make Damascus and pattern welded blades I was very much looking forward to the new piece of kit.

I must say in am very impressed with it, so far it's been on my belt for a month or so and in that time it's cut electrical wire, chicken wire, my daily apple, braided rigging rope and made kindling. As you can see in one of the pics it has a 4mm spine so you can bash it with another log and make kindling.

It's small , quite waighty in the hand and not likely to brake.

It's custom made so if anyone is interested he can do any length of blade or tang or change the blade shape. Scabbards can be made whatever you want, I am a ground hog so mine is a belt sheath but a climber might want a harness sheath.

Scalloped edge is also possible if you like that extra speed on a rescue knife, but mine goes through climbing rope at a rate of knots so I don't really see the need.

He is charging about £100. Which is a lot dearer then say a petzle blade but it's 100% better quality and holds an edge when others have gone blunt.
