  1. Good afternoon all, I am currently using ArbPro but find it a little restrictive and would like something that incorporated some logistical planning element to it, has anyone got any ideas?
  2. Hey guys, I have my company in Toronto operating for over 2 years now. Quickbooks has been good but I find it difficult to have multiple system in my day to day operation. Do you know any software that can do everything, scheduling, estimates, invoicing in just one tool? Would love to hear suggestions! Thank you.,
  3. I'm starting to wonder whether life as an independent consultant would be the way to go. Can anyone advise on a suitable setup in terms of a GPS device to collect the survey data, and software to collect and download the tree survey data and produce tree plans, especially plans for BS5837? I can write my own professional AIA and AMS report and would rather do my own tree protection plans than pay for someone else to do them. I presume I would need some sort of professional indemnity insurance too. Any advice welcome as this is all new to me.
  4. Hi All There are a number of subscription magazines that focus on Arb but which ones do Arbs actually read? or find useful? I am looking at what literature there is available for arborists in business and theres a few I did not even know existed! For my purposes I am looking at advertising specifically and the best place to reach our target audience. And I am aware of the obvious trade magazines however are there others I am unaware of? I have feeling this information will be of use to others as well and potentially bring into focus useful literature that possibly others didn't know existed.. To name but a few of the obvious ones, I have also added a link so you can take a look at each ... 5. I have been tasked with looking into this old chestnut again. My general approach is to work out what software would achieve our needs then select a device with the required ruggedness and spec. This time were coming at it from the reverse. It has been suggested that we get some Windows 10, (as in desktop OS run on a rugged tablet) Rugged windows tablets. We have a device in-mind (MESA2) which looks very impressive however I have absolutely no knowledge of data collection software for windows platform. Previously all my forays have been either Android or windows mobile based. I'm aware a lot of desktop style software tends to focus on asset management style surveying for Local Authority. We do not typically have much use for long term asset management style software. In terms of usage we would mostly be looking to use the software for condition surveys on large rural or remote locations. The ability to plot tree potions with a reasonable degree of accuracy just so they can be found again and add attributes to something like and attribute table and export the resultant data to DXF SHP or similar is essential. It has also been floated that we try to source some software that has the flexibility to carry out BS5837 surveys. I am infinity dubious as to how effective a single piece of software may be in both scenarios. It may be the case that two separate approaches are used? What ever the software, the output would need to be 100% customisable in order that it can fit into our current report presentation / style. Any one with some thoughts here please do let me know. I've found that much of the software still on offer uses Windows mobile which is tragic in my view given how far things have move on since 1997. Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi All, We've been working with tree service companies to build a tree service program. You can add before/after pics to quotes and reports in few mins. Get all your compliance, pre starts stuff done without paperwork. Track jobs and travel time to know exactly cost of each job. Happy to give you guys a demo or screenshots etc. Mark
  7. Hi, I have developed a two part piece of software, one for office and one for field. I need a few people to trial the system, anyone interested? The main software runs on PC or MAC the field software runs on iPad (either type) I'm working on layouts that work with iPhone. For more details email [email protected] Thanks
  8. I am looking to get some sort of software in place, preferably with Filemaker Pro... and I found this! Looks like a good deal. Will work on mac and PC and he can develop it further for you, here is a free demo download. You do need to buy a copy of Filemaker to make the full version work Mac Edge Corporation A Great Deal on Arborist FileMaker Pro? database! A Great Deal on Arborist FileMaker Pro? database! A Great Deal on Arborist FileMaker Pro? database! It may not cover all bases but it does quite a lot in one program, also Filemaker pro is pretty stable.
  9. Afternoon Ladies, Anyone seen or tried ARBORSOFTWORX, looks a bit tired but does it do the business (sic.), or do you use another off the shelf product, I know a couple of you have QUICKBOOKS, any thing else? Cheers:thumbup:
