  1. Hello. I'm currently in my first year of a level 3 Forestry and Arboriculture course, and I'm looking to get some relevant work experience in the industry. I only have my CS30 at the moment, but should be going for my CS31 later this term too. Regardless, I would be happy supporting in anyway I can, as I'm really just looking to learn and improve. Thanks for your time/any support on this. All the best, Francisco
  2. I am working with one groundsman two too three days per week and a climber one too two days per week. They are both self-employed but i am unsure if they are in reality bonafide subcontractors. They both do their own work outside of my business. They provide their own saws and fuel, kit etc. They both invoice me for work done each week. They have signed a document to say that they will be responsible for their own tax and national insurance. But i do guide them when on jobs as to what to do. Do small businesses get prosecuted for not having the correct employment status for workers? Is this something i should be concerned about? If they dont pay their tax am i liable? I do not have any contracts and do residental work. Would i be better using a zero hours contract or a Contact for Services? Or leave well alone?! I would welcome advice. Thanks
  3. Afternoon all, We are currently reviewing our staff contracts and wondered if any one puts anything in about staff injuring themselves at work? And what the conditions are. It's always been a grey area and with such a high risk job, wonder if it's best to outline some terms? To date, we haven't had any one injure themselves (touch wood!). Would appreciate any help or advice you can give. Thanks, Sophie
  4. Morning All, i am a small, one man band with no direct employees, but a list of independent subbies that I regularly use. They are covered under my employee insurance Yadar yadar yadar...... when filling out forms for work, and they ask for the amount of employees that I have, should I list 0, or can I list the number of regular subbies? As far as the work goes, we regularly go out as a 2 or 3 man team so seems silly (in my head) to potentially under sell and limit myself if I have to say it is just little old me on my own. thanks
