  1. So in the end I got a sew coil and flywheel off a dolmar stone saw. I did have to make a spacer because the flywheel was rubbing on the pull start spool. But I do have spark now.
  2. I ordered some Chinese bits and they didn’t work. How about a 309 dolmar coil and flywheel?
  3. I don’t think in this case it would work as I believe the coil is kaput.
  4. So what are my options?
  5. With the module fitting and the piece that was removed. The continuity issue is from the grey wire or anywhere on that piece which I presume is the coil, up to the spark plug boot. The spark plug wire itself is fine as I unscrewed it and checked.
  6. I’ll got take some pictures but I definitely know it’s a two pawl starter
  7. So my coil packed in. Continuity up the plug lead is good as is the kill switch wire. I’ve tried the Oregon module replacement but it still doesn’t spark. I think the coil is knackered, ive no continuity from the coil up the spark plug lead. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement? I’ve searched high and low but no joy.
  8. The issue is that with the saw been older than a Husqvarna rifle they no longer make them.
  9. Good evening. Will any newer saw clutches fit a 285cd? The drum is good but the actual clutch is goosed.

    266se cylinder

Both cylinders have transfers in the walls as oppose to the base by the look of them.

    266se cylinder

So if I were to port it the windowed would be the better option as it increases flow.

    266se cylinder

I’m a little confused. The first cylinder is 50mm bore with a solid piston whereas the third is 50mm with a piston that has windows. Why the difference?
  13. Can I swap a 266 cylinder and piston for a 268 combo? I know the covers are different but everything after the cylinder will be off the 266 saw. Do I need a 268 intake block though? The only reason I’m doing this is availability, I can get a meteor 268 but not a 266.

They can always shut their windows. 😉
  15. It’s such a shame she cannot be heard over the sound of her own ovaries. I like a woman in overalls but ffs!

    Like this?
  17. Not sure what I’d make of someone in the car park sat on the car bonnet with a welding lid on, just watching.

    372 porting

Ported my 372xp. Original numbers were 100 exhaust opens transfers at 120 and intake at 72. I increased the inlet duration to 154 with a curved bottom to lessen intake roar and raised the exhaust to 98 and flattened the top. Both ports got widened to 70% of the bore and the lower transfers got matched to the case. I can confirm she is a runner and despite the massive increase in the intake doesn’t fall on its arse.
  19. Fabricator welder can vary. Some jobs round here are paying 14 quid a hour. Probably jig mig work on mild steel. A skilled stainless fabricator can get 18 quid. Pipe welding would be 18+ paye. A subcontractor pipe welder well the sky is the limit. I would fall into the stainless fabricator who can pipe weld camp. Decent money I know. But when you have an itch you have to find out what it would be like to scratch it. It seems we have two camps, don’t do it, it’s a shit job paying peanuts and then the other, which is “I did it and never looked back”
  20. Ah I thought you ment ndt but in the arb sector.
  21. NDT? As in Lola testing?
  22. Seems like most experienced voices are saying no. Will have to stick to what I know and do the tree work as a weekend job.
  23. This is a fact I’m just discovering. It’s a skilled trade and it seems unless you are self employed you don’t get the financial recognition. Also when you have a mortgage etc it’s a very real factor to consider.
  24. I’ve been a welder for over twenty years now and I’m going to get into tree work instead. I’ve secured funding for my 38/39 with that forestry funding application. I did apply for 30/31 but didn’t hear anything on this. Cue the Simon bates music, I’ve become fed up with a trade I one enjoyed and have felt like getting into tree work for some years now. The problem is at 40 you have a bunch of financial commitments, I realise jumping career will mean I’m starting at the bottom so I’ll be effectively an apprentice. Anyone done this transition care to share any tips on making this as financially painless as possible and also share any success stories. craig.

    346 porting

First bit of porting. I’ve kept the numbers the same after a gasket delete but I’ve widened the inlet and widened and flattened the exhaust ports to 65 70% of the bore. The lower transfers are ground to match the case and smoothed out internally. All the ports were left rough except the exhaust which was polished the best I could without proper polishing tackle. Thank you spud for the advice along the way.
