  1. Smaller ones ash I’m assuming….
  2. I do have mains close by. Ideally I’ll be betting more logs that will require “work”. Have been thinking about a battery chainsaw, Cleva (I already have the batteries and other tools). Would a power saw be better than this option?
  3. No. Our old Victorian house is called Rustington. Not sure if there’s any connection.
  4. Clearly still an amateur
  5. I quite enjoy the chopping. My “un-processable” pile needs to get bigger before I can warrant a chainsaw purchase 😂
  6. Not sustainable and may as well put the heating on as it would be cheaper. still happy to buy some like this but not to the amount we would need.
  7. It’s been fine with what we have. But a bigger log burner burning for longer just isn’t sustainable.
  8. I have tried this. they said it’s council owned. Trying to get a name or number to contact there.
  9. Yeah? that would be great. cant be that easy can it?
  10. What wood? The branches up there can’t be any thicker than 2 inches can they?
  11. Access is a dream. Shed is close as is boundary with next door. Access would be ok if needed there. No other obstacles or pets.
  12. Thanks chaps. Always good to have an idea before asking for prices. Maybe they will have some logs to drop off as they pop in too 😂
  13. Any idea on sort of cost for a job like that?
  14. Something like this….
  15. We have owned it for 4 years and not cut it back at all. Ironically, the previous owner was a tree surgeon. The tree is too high to really pick anything. They are firm pears and so often good even after the fall.
  16. The vertical ones at the top I assume you mean. Is that all you would suggest cutting back?
  17. Hi, does this pear tree need cutting back a bit or should it be left alone? (it’s just in front of the shed bottom right, so I guess about 10 meters tall)
  18. I managed to get a little from FB, but going to need more and a regular source if I’m going to invest into it. The plan is to get a large log burner installed in the centre of the house. Burning through out winter. this will cost far too much if I’m to by the logs. So need to do some of the chopping and seasoning myself, and I’m happy to, it’s just getting that supply.
  19. That’s the bark (other half of the log) laying above them 2.
  20. All good tips for next time. I don’t think I got any willow or conifer.
