  1. Assuming the oil is good
  2. Nothing is too basic, I’m very much learning here. No idea what the tension should be. It feels oiled, I’ll check it on some paper. How would I fix an oiling issue? Having nothing to compare the sharpness to it’s hard for me to say. IMG_0675.mov
  3. I picked it up cheap second hand to give it a go. It looked new, said it had hardly been used. Im not sure if it’s me or the saw, it is my first time using one, but it doesn’t really cut very well. The blade just seems to get very hot. Anything I should look at? I’ve put oil in it and the blade seems to be tight.
  4. Moisture meter is saying 23. Is it ok to store inside with other logs?
  5. The previous owner of our house (and tree) was a tree surgeon………, I assume he did it.
  6. Asked on a FB group and they were the only ones local enough to do it for a reasonable price. Sent the image on how I wanted it, said no problem.
  7. Yep, showed them the photo I posted here. Doing nothing would have been a closer resemblance.
  8. Yep, my tree. Seems very drastic. Not what I was expecting. No caravan. Decided to climb the tree and not use a ladder.
  9. I guess there’s surgeons that trim trees and those that just want to take them down 😢
  10. I liked the poplar that I used, still got a little of it. Found it burnt for quite a long time.
  11. Picked up a nice little bargain today…… Mac Allister 16” electric chainsaw.
  12. It’s far too heavy to be poplar. Ash as others have said would make much more sense.
  13. I thought it was poplar but is really heavy and feels solid!
  14. Will this continue to rot or will it start to dry now it’s split?
  15. Smaller ones ash I’m assuming….
  16. I do have mains close by. Ideally I’ll be betting more logs that will require “work”. Have been thinking about a battery chainsaw, Cleva (I already have the batteries and other tools). Would a power saw be better than this option?
  17. No. Our old Victorian house is called Rustington. Not sure if there’s any connection.
  18. Clearly still an amateur
  19. I quite enjoy the chopping. My “un-processable” pile needs to get bigger before I can warrant a chainsaw purchase 😂
  20. Not sustainable and may as well put the heating on as it would be cheaper. still happy to buy some like this but not to the amount we would need.
  21. It’s been fine with what we have. But a bigger log burner burning for longer just isn’t sustainable.
  22. I have tried this. they said it’s council owned. Trying to get a name or number to contact there.
  23. Yeah? that would be great. cant be that easy can it?
