  1. Its easy to waste money on Google ads if you don't know what you're doing. And its expensive to get an external company to run campaigns for you......we use an external company and at the moment we're around £35 per lead due to most other tree surgeon companies also advertising. Can be a bit of a minefield but does repay if you're willing to shell out initially.
  2. Where in Scotland are you based? I'd be interested, think your sentimental bowls are a really good idea
  3. Yeah, second above, cordyline are basically unchippable. You hear a lot of the guys in the states tackle them top down when dismantling
  4. Work out what your running costs are and % profit needed for the business, then price jobs accordingly. Dont fall into the trap of being a "busy fool". Get a good accountant, they may seem expensive, but a decent one will save you more money than they cost. Be upfront and don't be afraid to put your foot down with clients. Best of luck, 21 is a great age to start your own operation 👍
  5. Always thought its strange that you can prune a tree back to the boundary but when you apply to the council if the trees TPO'd or in a conservation area the council document says to make sure all work is compliant with 3998.....a lot of the time you cant prune back to a growth point/branch collar
  6. My Mrs is a surveyor specialising in Business rates. You're apparently better calling the accessors they'll tell you if its currently got an RV on it and what its currently assessed at
  7. You don't turn pollards back into normal trees, but you can try and turn topped trees back into normal trees
  8. What do you do for a living?
  9. Anyone ballpark what an acre of land would cost to rent P.A? Its for growing Xmas trees. Glasgow based
  10. Could be Scold, could be fungal. If you pruned it hard I'd have expected it to yield more fruit, see how it produces this year as pears can skip a year. Prognosis doesn't look good in the long run as there's visible delamination, however as its a small tree which is still going into leaf means there's Cambium hanging in there
  11. We're getting £24 a tonne atm, thats picked up from our yard
