  1. Personally a big fan of Pfanner SOS suit if I'm on my own. Had a strange "Slip" once in windblowns, one in a thousand, saw came out of my hands and as I was knocked over it gently kissed the tendon behind my knee, lucky really. My lesson was no matter how good you may be you can always be humbled.

  5. Got to be my favourite saw, I want to know the price and if it's legit, if it's right I'd stick a few on the shelf for the future. I bought a few ea5000's as they ended too, can't wait for the warranty to end and open them up.

  10. I too love these saws but this one is testing me. The carb as been rebuilt as far as gaskets, diaphragm, gauze, needle and lever arm but I didn't set that up, I'm going to need a little guide here. It dies immediately the choke is opened or throttle opened, ie it ticks over (a bit quick) with the choke in the start position (closed) for a few seconds and then dies unless you do the above and the immediate. H and L screws are correct but no idea yet on idle, can't keep it going but I have set that deliberately too quick. Will spray in cleaner when I'm back at the weekend. I'll dig further into breathers etc probably should start with the lever arm. Never seen a wierd fault like this
  11. No, best I learn how to do that. I just set the screws (h and l) to one turn from fully in as a start point.
  12. I've got a saw that's kicking my ass. Mates 262xp had been in a shed for a few years, fuel was obviously rotten. The diaphragm was slack so I rebuilt the carb (not Chinese) new plug, good compression and usual service checks before refuelling and cranking. Should say at this point that I don't think the pot is original, I can't see Mahle stamped anywhere. It started on choke but oddly ran on for a few seconds, as soon as the choke is released or the throttle touched it INSTANTLY dies. It did it a few times until I decided to go and chop wood before I launched it. What am I missing?
  13. I'm inclined to agree with Crocky, for a little bit more weight I'd reach for the bigger saw if such a job required. A powerful 50cc will almost certainly be your go to for as much as you can possibly get away with, much lighter, less fuel usage. I have 3 old 346xp's that I ported and without fail there is always one in the truck and I have saws of all other classes. If budget is tight grab yourself one of the last ea5000p's (£470) before they go and get someone to supply you with a SLR removed muffler before you even pull the cord, it's what kills these little machines. Really easy to port too.
