  1. All depends only on your fitness, recommend you to go back welding, as you will never earn    same money in tree work , you should try treework at weekends ,while you welding full time , always wanted to learn weld aluminium and stainless steel sadly not enough hours in the day.

  2. Stihl bar lose all paint on 2 chains ,did any seen that ? Ms 261 last time checked 468 hours on it 80% paint still present on original bar, 4 rims and 15 chains according to my notebook . Never seen chain stretch that much ,obviously something is very wrong,if it me I replace clutch drum and rim ,new bar and chain immediately ,also partially disassemble and check all tings right I think it’s clear as a day saying mildly. If oiler is not Woking correctly chain will overheat quickly and you will not be able to cut anything the clutch will slip or saw will bogg down you will see smoke from the drum clutch and so on there is more experienced people there on fixing the saws , but you said 15 years cutting you should feel any little changes in saw performance ,I easily predicting dirty filters ,worn spark plugs and crank seals ,worn chain bars just when I cutting stuff not even open it.

People want to keep the shade and some ambience which isn't given by a wee stick of a tree.

Even a poorly pruned tree has more amenity value than a newly planted one when in leaf.

Besides, poor pruning with it's rip cuts, rot pockets and a dense crown are great urban habitats for wildlife.

I'm not arguing the case for poor pruning practices but maybe it has it's upsides.

    Nonsense 🤷🏿‍♂️

TBH, many of the birches I get to work on are on the limit of property and subject to French laws on height and distance.

Often require a silly prune to appease a neighbour taking umbridge over seeds, leaves or shade.

I've done terrible things to birches at the customers request but only where my fellow brothers in arb can't spot it from the road.

    A terrible prune versus removal.

Well, at least retaining with a recipe for rot pockets give someone future work...

Sometimes removal and planting appropriate tree is the best option and in long run cost much less with nice outcome, but people usually can’t think that long ahead.

  5. I want to say that I did jobs like that, but I always explain that tree will be destroyed and I recommend removal or just crown rising and dead wood removal usually after little argument and few photos from net ,clients agree with me . Few times I lost the jobs because of that but 🤷🏿‍♂️.In this particular case we talking about tree should not be touched at all in my opinion as you will get all this high back next year but shape and strength will be lost, so wasted money .

On my transits I’ve always had four wheels on the rear axle. Seems to me as I’m usually overloaded it has to be a better option than two.
Yet my nephew is buying a 3.5 tonner and is considering a 2 wheeler.
Is he wrong, does it really make much difference?

Who is running a two wheeler and do you have any issues?

    He is absolutely wrong!

Where about are you based?  How long have you worked in Arb?

IME there are a hell of a lot of wreck heads in this line of work in the UK.  I lived and worked in South East London for 16 years before I moved to Norway.

There are levels to these things.

Of course if you have contracts that require random Drug and Alcohol tests then that is a necessity.  Most companies don’t have those obligations…

So to take a stab at someone saying they are not fit to run a business because they have a user on the crew, is a bit out of line IMO.

As for the naive, hypocritical people who think that drinking the night before is OK but drugs deserve them to receive a smack over the head with a shovel and then kicked off site.

    Get a ****************ing grip.

What type of drugs warrant a smack with a shovel?  Serious question?

    Coffee?

    Cocodamol?

    Oxycontin?

    Weed?

    Tobacco?

    Alcohol?

    Poppers?

    Amphetamines?

    Anti depressants?

    Allergy tablets?

    Night nurse?

    Cocaine?

    Heroin?

    any others?

They all have an effect on the person who takes them.

FTR I have worked with and don’t appreciate working with people who have had a skinful the night before.  Yet have worked with many a productive person who has had a joint the night before.

I don’t condone drinking and being hungover at all in this industry.  Nor taking drugs whilst at work.  The only thing warranting a smack over the head with a shovel is a crack head trying to steel my shit at lunch time.

As I said, there are levels.

Now to address the original post.

Would you have known if he hadn’t dropped the baggie?  Was he generally a productive and safe climber who contributes to a good atmosphere and is a team player?

IMO it was his fault to have it on site and drop it during the days work.  For that you need to have a word and decide if you need to take action.  He will have lost his own job through his own actions.

Of course if he has a major problem and can’t make it through a day without a line then he also has a problem.  A problem that requires money to fill his wants.  Again a dumb decision on his part for getting caught so deserves to go.

I didn’t say drinking night before, it’s obvious you can’t even drive after good drink last night, but 1 beer at evening and 8 hour sleep I see no problem . Any stuff on site deserve smack with shuffle , even some prescribed drugs affect you in bad way , I seen how gambling addiction and simple computer games affect people so much , that it impossible to trust them even bring the bags with ropes so lunatics they where.  So there is no levels of this things around me ,if you want ckrackheads  running around you that’s fine.

  9. I hade dumping people just with bad hangover, if I only suspect someone use it on the site I will smack bastard with the shuffle ,once I trow crowbar in teleported driver just he was driving like a shit,so I think in our trade no drugs at all ,a bit of a drink no problem once you sleep well after ,but drugs No.
