  1. Hi all, hoping someone can help identify this bracket. Has been on a walnut for a good few years, grows yearly according to client. Tree in good condition, stem solid. Can’t seem to identify it, hoping someone here may know! Thanks, I know it’s not the best photo.
  2. Hi. We are looking for a groundsman/ second climber for our small company based in Chelmsford, Essex. We’re passionate about the industry and look after those who work with us. We’re looking for someone who shares the same values and brings a solid work ethic and reliability to the team. Basic NPTC certs and drivers license would be ideal. Climbing certs and some climbing experience is a bonus, we encourage learning and progression on the job. We get a range of work - domestic/ commercial. Job would be initially on a sub-contract basis (4/5 days a week) with a view to moving to PAYE if you work well with us! Good guys are hard to come by, so more than happy to pay over the going rate for someone who ticks the box - get in touch! Call or message Ben on 07766660818 to discuss further or if you have any questions.
  3. Will have a look, thanks. Trouble is I’d like to find something online, as I’d be doing alongside running a business and it’d be hard to commit to travelling regularly outside work hours.
  4. Thanks Mark, currently I’ve just finished ISA cert Arb which was a breeze, have been in the industry for a fair while now but think level 5 or 6 might be too much too soon?
  5. Hi all, Has anyone completed the Level 4 Arb Diploma?Have been looking at it on Training Tree and by all accounts it can be done completely online now. I believe it’s replaced the old Tech Cert? Interested to see how people have found it, managed to fit around work etc? Thanks
  6. Slowed right down to a drip for us too. Change of restrictions bound to have a knock on effect as things open up - well that’s hopefully what it is. Few friends of mine not getting much come through either, so your not alone!
  7. Hi all, We are a Chelmsford based company looking for a a groundsman/ second climber. Tickets and driving licence ideal, opportunity to progress and further climbing career too. We have a mix of commercial and domestic work. Would be with a view to going full time on the books. We are a small friendly company who prides themselves on a high quality of work. 8. Also, here is a photo of one of the team coming to grips with the machine.
  9. We’ve got an Avant 423 with the forks/ grab attachment. Works well for brash and logs but do find it can be quite heavy. Game changer for us though as it speeds jobs right up.
  10. Hi all, We are a Chelmsford based company looking for a second groundsman. Tickets and driving licence ideal, opportunity to progress and further climbing career too. We have a mix of commercial and domestic work. Initially would be on a 3-4 day a week subbie basis. We are a small friendly company who prides themselves on a high quality of work. 11. I am also looking, not having much luck!
  12. Hi guys, As above looking for a supplier of artic (or similar) loads of green hardwood. Will be processed for firewood. I’m sure someone on here will have a contact. We are Essex based. Cheers.
  13. We just haven’t had many fells for a few months and need a bit more out seasoning for the next years sales.
  14. Hi all, looking for some straight lengths of hardwood - oak ash hornbeam ideally. Approx 20m3, anything around 1-4ft diameter. Our firewood supply for next year is a little low at the moment, need to bolster our reserves. Can collect with avant and trailer, happy to pay going rate for green timber of course. Or if anyone knows anyone etc. Cheers!
  15. Apologies gents it should have read 100m as in metres not minutes. The tree has two stems that fork from a union at 6m. This union has a extensive decay and recent cracks. The mewp wouldn’t reach the furthest side, and we are wary of taking the weight off one side first with the state of the union, and leaving all the weight on the other side. A crane is out of the question too. This in mind we opted for the grapple saw truck as the safest option. This requires a full closure of a part of the road. It’s not a major road, and only a portion will be closed for the day. I’ve spoken with highways and the emergency charge of £689 seems to be the only cost we face from the council.
  16. It’s not climbable unfortunately. Huge decay and recent cracks in both stems. We have arranged a crane for the soonest day (19th). Think we will be getting another price.
  17. Spoke to herts highways on the phone this morning and she’s informed me it’s a £689 charge for emergency works.
  18. A small part of Parsonage Lane. Company is Crusader Traffic.
  19. Bishops Stortford, comes under East Herts...I imagine the TM will be making these calls for me.
  20. Cheers. Just closing a portion of it (10-15m) both lanes. Traffic can still use the road either side. If I call highways and inform then a two weeks before is it still an emergency in their eyes?
  21. I would have thought so too. Quote didn’t mention council liaising. Just asked me to send over details and tree report to their (TM’s) planning dept. And they would liaise. What I’m concerned about is them coming back and saying, all liaised but it’s £1000, which I’d have to go to client with after they’ve already accepted quote.
