I would have thought it was urgent too as work is booked for 19th which is soonest we can get there, which puts us well outside normal procedure. East Herts seem to suggest it’s £689 for an emergency, valid for 21 days but you can’t apply in advance.

When I say portion of the road, I mean a section of the road by the tree will be closed both ways as we need two lanes.

Hi all, little advice needed here as not something I’ve had experience with. Consultant has done a survey on a very large oak that overhangs property and fairly busy road. Noted some recent cracks and major decay, put a 7 day notice on it for obvious reasons. We’ve got to close a portion of the road so we can get a grapple truck near the tree (unsafe to climb). Contacted a TM company who have provided me with a quote of £5/600 to have all signs etc in place for the day. I’ve also asked them to liaise with the council to notify them, I’m aware it’s normally a long procedure but in this case we have to get the tree down ASAP. I’ve provided the TM company with the tree report so they can persue this with LA. I’ve also given the council a 5 day notice for urgent works. The quote has been accepted and work booked within two weeks. I’m going to call the council Monday and talk to them regarding the closure too. Are they likely to charge me for the closure? I assumed that everything coming from the TM company would carry more weight rather than trying to do it myself, but I’m concerned there may be some hefty costs coming my way that I may have overlooked. All advice greatly appreciated!

Hmm maybe I’ll have to find somewhere else to put them. Having said that they have seemed to get down to low 30’s in the space of 2/3 months. I could stick cord and cut logs out in the open for a few months and bring them in down the line but they’d be uncovered and I’m not sure if that’s better or worse.

They’re open for half hour a day I suppose while things get moved around.

Cheers square. I run an Arb business primarily. I’m in talks to get some outdoor space but unfortunately it may not happen. I am fully aware it’s not ideal where it is. I’ve attached some photos that I took pre-moving in. It’s watertight and secure but air does get in, noticeably a little colder and not stale inside this morning. Not sure if the air ducts are sealed or not. Will have a better look tomorrow.

Cheers guys. Got it all on pallets today, surprising how much more space it takes up. Will see if it makes a difference, can’t see how it won’t. Only started the firewood side in November so with lots of wood coming in but none ready to go out, space is becoming an issue.

Cheers. Unfortunately I don’t have much choice but to keep them inside, farmer I rent from would charge a fortune for outside space and it’d all go missing fairly quickly. I also can’t modify the building in any way. Hopefully getting them off the ground and stacked more efficiently will make a difference. No it doesn’t smell damp or mouldy in there so there must be some, if minimal, airflow.

Evening gents, Quite new to firewood so bear with me. I have a sealed unit that I run the business from, and have been splitting and storing all hardwood inside. I have no alternative place to season it unfortunately. It used to be a potato store so does have air flow ducts running across the floor but not sure if these have been sealed off..[emoji849] Anyway, some of the logs towards the middle of the pile have predictably started to grow mould. Are these a write off? I’m getting it all on pallets this week to get it off the ground but wonder if the fact that they are inside with limited air flow -I might just be pissing in the wind..? Thoughts, advice and methods all muchly appreciated. Cheers.

Hi gents, We are a small business in Chelmsford, Essex. Looking for a competent climber for future work here and there on a subbie basis. Must have the following- 5+ years climbing experience, would be ideal to see past work if possible - competent and comfortable with reductions/ dismantles NPTC's.
