  1. What type of Larch did the forestry commission plant? I think they've cut them all down round here and left them where they fell. A real shame.
  2. I can put you contact with the maker of this no idea on price though.http://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/download/file.php?id=52805&mode=view
  3. Using tractors outside their normal environment is more common than it used to be with the speeds of 50kph and above. The big no no is using gas oil to do it. I've had a summer job with our local authority grass cutting with their tractor for the last few years, in that time they've had to change over to run on Derv.
  4. Doesn't that come down to taxation class? They used to be able to put some sort of living accommodation in HGVs which would enable a tax class change and someone with a car licence could drive it. Keep the comments coming lads, JustMe is going to have a fit when he sees this lot
  5. My son's mother in law had the opposite happen. Got her licence back with entitlement to drive everything under the sun. She used it to hire a dirty great removals lorry when she moved house, she'd never been near a lorry before! I've heard that if you have any issues with your licence/entitlements you have to be able to quote date, time and place when you took your test. Unsurprisingly not many people can. Edit. agg221, I thought that name was vaguely familiar. It's a small world, even smaller now. Cheers.
  6. This man is psychic! Yes I was thinking about Land Rover, in particular the early ones. To be honest I don't know when they started putting towing info on their chassis plates but even on the Series III it was a 'recommended' 2 ton. There is no towing information to be found for the Series II model but some adamantly believe (discussions can become quite heated) that the Series III figure also applies to the Series II. I'm one of those who will use a 3500kg trailer if needed behind mine . . . . and I passed my test before it started getting complicated!
  7. Slightly off topic but sort of connected, maybe you can point me in the right direction for an answer - What is the position with regards vintage kit where a towing or carrying capacity is not stated?
  8. I've come across this thread after searching the web for gloves suitable for hedging. Welding gloves .... every time I'm seduced by the looks of a new pair, these look good ones I thinks to myself. Sadly they rarely enter the second day of battle intact. I spoke to a lady last week who invited me to view the pair of gloves she had bought for her husband. They sound the real McCoy and expensive but she wouldn't say exactly how much. I'll find out where from too. I've got one of the old heavy leather mitten ones. One day I'd like to use it as template and try and make one. I think one problems is getting suitable leather, I think the original is chrome tanned and thick, not what you come across easily nowadays, might not be available at all. Nice video, hadn't seen that one.
