  1. Thanks Ian that's very kind of you. If my next try goes wrong I'll maybe try that. Carrie
  2. Thanks. I'm a bit of a technophobe and can't really fiddle around with pictures. I chose a small file under 1mb but it still got turned round. It's a pity that only the techno-smart can post pictures. Carrie
  3. Hi Everyone Just trying out to see how difficult it is to post pictures on this forum. Well the preview turned the picture round to landscape even though it was a portrait picture. Can't figure out how to change that. Help appreciated. Thanks. Carrie http://www.carrieoncarving.co.uk
  4. Well I'm finally on the right road to getting sorted Ukulian. Thankyou. I will post again when I arrive - and maybe something carved with my new saw set up if posting pictures are not too problematic. Cheers. Carrie
  5. You're right Geoff. Lee got back to me soon after I contacted him to say he will explain what I need and sort me out! It's been a long journey for me and it's great to have this forum with helpful advice and guys willing to go the extra mile. Carrie
  6. Many thanks Fairywings. Will do. Carrie
  7. Thanks Russ. Do I need to order all 10 parts? Looks really complicated. Shall I try to track down the equivalent parts from Oregon here in the UK or wait till I come over to the States for Reedsport. There's not many of us who check in on forums both sides of the pond. Carrie
  8. This is a long shot I know but does anyone here know if I can get a 1/4 pitch sprocket for my Echo 420 so that I can run 1/4 pitch chain on my 16" Cannon carving bar? I've emailed sprocket suppliers and got no reply. I've also posted on the American carving forum but they don't know. They don't have the Echo 420. I've just posted on the German forum but thought I'd cover all bases and try here as well. Carrie
  9. Gustharts do them! Yeah I was surprised too. A glimmer of carving light in this back woods country we inhabit! 😛 Carrie
  10. Thanks for the suggestion Mark. It was a young chap who has just set up a mower business and has a contract with Stihl among others, who took on the repair. I figure he would have contacted them for help if that was a way to go. I was very lucky. His Dad wanted to buy one of my carvings and so we traded the repair in exchange. Still wish I hadn't bought the saw in the first place though. Thanks for all the responses. Carrie
  11. I have the little MS150 saw that I don't use very often. I reserve it for detail work only as it is small and lightweight. It is out of the warranty period now although I haven't had it very long. One day it just refused to start. It caused my local repairers a few headaches until they found that both the ignition coil and the flywheel had broken on it. Further enquiries by the guys at the workshop found this is a common fault with these saws. I am annoyed to have bought this saw and run into these problems and wonder why they continue to sell this saw if its a 'common fault'? Have any of you guys had these problems with this saw? Carrie
  12. Superb. What a treat to see masterful carpentry combined with great carving and design. Carrie
  13. Hi Simon That's a great bit of abstract art. I know what you mean about the sanding! Is that your design or were you given it as part of the commission? Carrie http://www.carrieoncarving.co.uk
