1. Hi , new to the firewood job, have Ifor Williams tipper trailer for delivering logs, towable hydraulic log splitter , 2 chainsaws & small tools. How do I go on about insuring all these ?? I have business use insurance on my truck as lm self employed anyway but would that cover delivering logs ?? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.
2. Would like to put in to vented bags ideally to season ready to sell on next winter but could be bit tricky ! 20 ton be about 35+ cube, worried about mould after pantomime trying to dry this season !. If price is right could save lot time & investment in processor etc as could be annual thing & im still on trusty ole chainsaw & hyd/splitter at the moment.
3. Any ideas of price per ton of green hardwood processed & ready to go?? I would have to collect it loose which is not a problem, could be about 20 ton. Next problem would be how to season it in big quantity loose like that.
4. Thanks Woodworks, I deliver loose with tipper trailer. Heard that, got some 1m3 vented bags to try seasoning in so will bear that in mind.
5. Afternoon all, Wondered if anyone could help me work out how many cu meters of hardwood you get from a ton of green fresh felled Ash/sycamore/field maple once processed ?? Thanks. Got 16 ton cut down weighed with trailor weighloader which is fairly accurate as we use it for grain & fertiliser.
6.
Thanks very much Geoff will make contact with them. Mick.

7. Just chainsaw & trailed hydraulic 30ton splitter with derv engine at the moment . Work on farm & started doing logs on the side hoping to build it up a bit . Thanks Ivecokid I'll have a look.
8. Evening all, looking for circular saw as don't do enough to warrant expense of second hand processor. Been looking at few cheapies on eBay, Ryetec, Balfor, Powerup, Rotenback etc. Any thoughts experiences or advice on these be appreciated please. Also how powerful are petrol ones ? Or do I stick to pto driven, can get access to tractor but petrol would be better but only if man enough ! Biggest I cut is about 14". Thanks. Mick.
9. Not too worried about stretch as would be tipped in to tipper trailor for delivery so purely thinking of these for seasoning/storage till dry/delivered. Are the MC Kingstone bags hard wearing if outside all time ??
10. Do you guys split green fresh felled wood in to this to season ? I'm limited to outside storage on concrete so like the idea of stacking 3 high on pallets & covering top one. Would be ideal if works. Only undercover storage I have is unventilated which I use to tip into when fully dried before delivering as I deliver loose with Ifor Williams tipping trailer..
11. Coppiced Ash & field maple for next year
12.
Hi Alycidon, I'm new to forum & selling firewood. I work on a farm in north Essex & have been given chance to sell firewood from the coppicing we do each year on farms. Being self employ this could top up my income especially when farm work is very quiet during winter but have been horrified at prices of processors etc. Interesting reading your comments on imported firewood which would work well with my existing stocks. Wondered if any chance of details of your supplier please. Mick.
