Yep mine was used maybe a dozen time... mint condition. There is a tread somewhere here on the forum about the one I purchased if someone is interested Also might be nice if we can see some picks of the saw in this tread

I bought mine fir 650,- thought it was quote a good deal. It did come with a 60 inch bar And a 404 chain. It would probably fetch most on eBay. If it's in good condition it might make 800,- Good luck selling it!

Hi, Nice thread(revival) Not sure on what material to use on the inside. Would also be interested to find out more since I will also be building a kiln in the near future. I did however stubble upon a good read on drying wood http://uccoatings.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/USDA-Drying-Hardwood-Lumber.pdf It might be a bit out dated, but is quite elaborate and deatailed on almost every aspect of drying wood. atb

@ big beech, ok thanks for the tips. you're right this bar is way oversized for this size log. In the future I will get a smaller blade to do smallish logs. I uploaded my clip on youtube here's the link. I'm not sure wether this speed is ok for a log of this size, but at least the 090 is pulling thru slow but steady. Any tips/hints are welcome btw Regards, Rik

Hi everyone, A few months ago I started a thread on buying a stihl 090. I Bought the saw and after cleaning everything I have it up and running! Thanks to everybody that supplied me with advice. Here's some pics of the saw. [/ATTACH] I also tried uploading a short clip... (mov.) does anybody know why it doesn't seem work? Also I have some questions regarding the chip size. I'm thinking about making the rakers a bit shorter so the my cut will be a bit more aggressive. At the moment i'm just pulling fine chips. what size chips is everybody else getting from their saw? (i'm running a 404 granberg millingchain) Also I noticed that while i'm milling my saw is leaking oil thru the oil cap. It's leaking thru the small whole that prevents a vacuum to occur in the oil reservoir. Does anybody else encounter this problem with their 070/090 while milling boards? Thanks everybody!

Thanks for that Alec, I was hoping that it was. I plan to use the saw so the more recent it is the better I suppose.

@ tom, I don't think this is the bar chain combo you are looking for is it? here's a pic of the bar number 3002 000 8076 I'm not too sure what kind of chain is on it at the moment. I don't think it's a 1/2 inch after all. I couldn't find it anywhere on the chain. If it does turn out to be a 1/2 inch chain I will contact you. kind regards Rik

I bought the saw!! Whoop Whoo.:thumbup: The shop owner and me made an interesting deal. He wants to keep the saw as a display until he closes shop, which could be anywhere from a month up to six months from now. That's not a deal breaker for me... I bought the saw and I have acces to it when I need it. In the meantime it can just sit there in his shop window. The saw was in great shape. I turned here over as gently as I could. It had a great amount of compression! I had a look under the air filter.... it looked brand new inside. The owner says it has the original bar an first chain still on it. By the looks of it, that could actually be true. there was no rust that I could see, only some oxidation on the muffler. It looks to be late model.... maybe someone here can give a rough estimate of when it was build. I'm really looking forward to using it in the future! I forgot to take good pictures. Here are the ones I did take.

@ Tom, Good to hear there are some stihl collectors in the Netherlands! I would like to give you a call to get some hints and tips. Concerning the bar. I'm thinking of changing the bar to a 60" gb bar from Alaskan Mill ? Mobile Chainsaw Mills. I would like to have a sprocket nose rather than a solid one. maybe we could make a trade. I know the logo you are revering to, I didn't notice it when I was looking at the saw last time. I'm located near Amsterdam. Some contacts would be great there seems to be very few people that know about these older saws here in the Netherlands. When I asked my dealer for a ripping chain last year he plainly told me that stihl doesn't sell them, when I asked him if he sold full skip chain he looked at me like this The man only knew how to sell machines, not how to use them. @ big Beech: cool to see your 090 in action! and thanks for the sprocket/ chain advice. I will change the sprocket to a .404 and get a granberg ripping chain
