  2. Hi,stump grinding advice again,i have at present a carlton 2500,which is ok but a bit big and not very nimble getting into the stumps in london houses,im really looking now at replacing her with something else, whats your opinions on the predator 28/38rx,and the bandit 2250xp,narrow access model,or any other suitable machines,i really need a more accessable machine as not many wide open spaces where i get my work,my pred 450 is ok at the mo for these jobs, but its very hard doing big hard stumps like this, any idea on costs of these machines too, cheers
  3. Hi,looked at old belt, its very battered so the nos are very hard to read, its a gates carbon, there is a veriety of nos there,005dd3,811gt,and1200-62,are any of these any good
  4. i agree, hydraulic is best, when i worked on psv vehicles, the ones with belts for fans were always breaking down, pulleys worn, belts split/frayed,idlers dead, out of line, hyd fans were much better, only probs were leaks and hoses,so spose swings and roundabouts, but hyd were more reliable
  5. Hi,the part no for the belt is sp4012-1/sp5014trx,hope you can sort out one for me at a sensible price,£230 for a belt is stupid money
  6. think ive found a site in the states that sells them for £112 ,not sure on postage etc,but continue with detective work some more
  7. thanks a lot guys, will do some ringing today/monday,will post any results on here, any ideas how hard it is to fit?got a rough idea in my mind but not sure if you adjust the belt on the polybelt pulleys,or the jackshaft assy, regards
  8. you will need to change the timing belt for sure, while at it do the water pump, and belt idlers, take the box off and strip off the clutch,it will be stuck/rusted to the flywheel,so will save problems later on,change the filters, fuel esp, make sure it turns over, just hope the fuel pump has not dried out to much and siezed up,16yrs is a long time to sit, diesels tend to suffer more because of the pump
  9. HI,i am wondering if any of you fellow stump grinders out there know where i can get a replacement poly belt for my carlton 2500 4 ,i know orange plant do them at an amazing price of £230 ,but i would like to know if any of you know where or who might sell them at a more sensible price, its the one from the jack shaft to the drive wheel, and how you fit them?many thanks
  10. Hi,as you can see i am a newbee on here,i am running a pred 450 at the moment for my small but hopefully to expand grinding operation,i need a smaller more easy to get to no access work machine, how do you rate the magnum alpine?is as good as they say it is?what about these smaller 13/15hp rock type machines?do they work ok too,and lastly whats the opinion on pred 28/38 rx machines, heard they had some clutch probs or is that sorted now,i am looking to buy maybe 2 new machines now,and expand up to a bigger one next year, any advice gladly welcome, has anyone got a magnum they wish to sell?
