  8. Hello again I haven't been able to do any carving for a while due to one thing or another. so now the weather is better I thought that I would post this pic of an Easter island Moai, it did start out as an owl but there was a defect in the other side, so as I took the saw to cut it up for the stove I saw the face and managed to recover it, seemed a shame to burn it as the grain is quite nice. Cheers Bert.

  13. Great vision Goodpig, I would like to be confident enough to create that in a carving but I am still a novice and need more experience before such an undertaking. Thanks though Bert
  14. About a two minute drive from home is a fallen lime it has been there for a while and has some rot, the owner of the field is more than happy for me to remove it, so I was wondering if it would be any good for carving. My initial thought was to carve a large wood spirit with the root bowl for hair, what do you recon? Bert

  19. I am on my second owl now but it has started to split before I have even finished it despite lots of coats of Danish oil and being stored mostly indoors, the wood was from a standing dead cheery tree that my son felled about a month ago. How long do you generally leave logs before they are carved? Bert.
  20. That's really nice wisewood, did you carve it in sections and join it? and what wood did you use? Bert
