    Land Rover

hmm your looking at about 1k for a factory speck conversion at lest that's what it cost me to do my 90 and £250 of that was for the 300tdi disco. ruff guide you can use the disco 300 engine and r380 gbox you just need to mod the gbox with a kit from Ashcroft Transmissions 5 min job then you can bolt on a defender selector housing from a scrap lt75 0r r380 then you got your self a defender speck r380. defender air cleaner brakets can be picked up cheep ish from Island 4x4 and Paddock just down load your self a defender pdf parts book and it's easy to find the numbers. cut the engine mounts off the disco chassis and use the disco gbox cross member (you will need to extend the disco gbox cross member side plates 40mm down at the bottom) 2 hole's line up the rest just mark and drill. the engine mounts can be welded to the chassis before doping in the engine check the second post in this link 300 Tdi Conversion: Engine height on chassis rails - 90, 110, 130, All Defender & Puma Forum - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum this will put the engine where it should be in a 300tdi defender. if your chassis number is after CA254407 prop's should be fine as v8 prop's from that number on are the same part numbers as 300tdi / td5 one's if not you can mod the front prop and buy a new 300tdi 110 back one. (if the front axle was a rover one you could just use the disco front prop) use the disco steering box and pas pipes just change the drop arm for a defender one. use the disco rad and intercooler just cut all disco's mounting braket's off the rad frame and weld 4 studs on to the frame 2 top 2 bottom to mach the ones on the v8 rad. fuel lines not a problem just use the feed and return ones off the disco and jone them to the feed and return ones on the 110 bypassing the v8's fuel filter housing then you just need some rubber fuel line to go from the 300's fuel pump to the discos fuel filter housing then to the Injector pump. exhaust off the shelf for a defender 300tdi 110 shop about and you can get a complete system for less than £100. new rad and intercooler hoses off the shelf for a defender 300tdi. if you have the black plastic gearbox tunnel with the adapter screwed to the bulkhead you mite get away with using it and the seat box and floor plates if not you just need a 300tdi or td5 gearbox tunnel (there the same parts) and floor plates or cut you own from 3mm treadplate and a 300tdi / td5 / tdci puma seat box (all 3 will fit) i used a tdci puma one with out any problems. easy weekends work if your a grown up that can weld and if it ant raining:thumbup: now modding body work to make a king cab for a tipper now thats very easy now
  4. so if your a woman you can still only drive 50km before needing a needing a tacho then or dont you need a tacho at all ? joking aside i guess it will help some people out buying a new work motor just not the ones who have payed out to have a tacho fitted and driver smart card
  5. if your on the IOW have you tried Isle of Wight Cars, Jobs, Property, Free Ads & Classifieds - Wightbay.com or if he's still going (has bin 4 years since i moved off) John Reynolds 4x4 & Trailer Centre on the forest road in newport john allways used to have a couple of ex utility tippers and landys for sale
