In theory it’s fine until everyone else wants 60% on top too which they will. Hyperinflation would be the outcome in my opinion though I could well be wrong.

Never known anyone use square posts for net fencing. Loads of extra work for no benefit whatsoever. And would look stupid.
We’ve used loads over the years,. Normally round but sometimes a fence is needed!

As said i already have my own business thanks
I have a business too and I wouldn’t touch buying another arb business or gardening business (yes they are similar despite what anyone may think) too much if it is person to person sales. Once the person is gone where does the business go ? You may get lucky you may not. Too much of a gamble. The op is tired of hard work after 6 years and expecting a nice big payback for some machines and some old customers who may or may not return

I dont get it, if you have a business that has shown consistent profit year on year there has to be a value to that.
To say without contracts its not really worth anything surely is wrong. People dont have a contract with tesco's but year in year out they make massive profits and if you wanted to take over that you know you would be paying for it! Yes they have bigger assets but thats all proportional to the point.
Not one of the actual paying customers that walk through that door have to use them but instead choose to. Same as with all the repeat customers that the OP will have gained over the years but doesnt have a contract.
Obviously the OP needs to shown a potential buyer the books to prove the numbers.
I started from scratch and i know for sure it would have been a lot easier to take on a established business ( as long as its not a run down failing company).
If i bought an established company with proven profit each year id have jumped a good few years of establishing a reputation while making ends meet, i probably wouldnt feel like a 90 yr old in a 40 yr old body!
Also a Tesco contract has got to be a big alarm bell to anyone! You don’t get big and rich by being nice to your suppliers

Does this really happen in some places? Ive not looked closely at what I pay per KWh but Im sure its like 15p or something, regardless of the time.
Edit; I just looked at my bill, Im a flat 18.98p a KWh, evergreen tariff. On a plus note I see Im £465 in credit, woohoo, Ill be claiming that back.
Just check when they last actually billed you. That may be the credit you need to pay the bill when it comes. Besides the idea is to save that extra for winter when you use more. To even out the bills. Just a thought

I used to love stickng some bottles in freezer night before, but have gave up recently as gets the inside of ur bag and all Ur gear all wet.
1 off lads was saying really not a good thing anyway in this extreme heat as could shock Ur body with such a difference in temps.
Is that true??
I doubt it very much since I’ve packs are a recognised way of cooling people quickly if they have heat stroke

I am taking that this machine is perhaps 1-2 years old, on a machine this age, an air leak is very unusual.
The unstable idle, first thing I would check when the revs increase and won't go back to the idle first set is that the carb is shutting off as it should. Yo may be releasing the throttle lever but the cable may be routed incorrectly and holding the carb open. I do this by pushing on the arm the cable is connected to so the carb throttle valve is pushed completely shut as you may have some issue with the cable that holds it open. If the revs drop back to normal, you have found your issue.
If the revs still race, it may be a lean L screw, sometimes when they are set a bit lean, the idle becomes a bit unstable - manufacturers like them lean as they can certify their equipment as EPA compliant!
Much comes back to getting the carb set by someone who knows what they are doing, 1/4 turn out on the L and H screw may sort your issues. A lean L screw will make it more difficult to start, be more unstable on idle and may bog if you give it a fistful of revs from idle. A lean H screw may make the engine falter and bog instead of revving out cleanly.
How is your air filter? If it is a bit blocked, this can give some issues. The carb colour can give you some interesting info. If the machine is low hours, it is unlikely to have any serious issues. One KM94 I did had your symptoms and a new fuel filter fixed it after a carb tune did very little!
The air filter thing is something I’ve found on newer stihl stuff. I seem to be changing them really often as it seems the engines don’t like it when they are even mildly dirty. Especially on the auto tune ones which is odd as it says in the book they should last longer due to auto tune. But if they ever run a bit rough I swop and it all goes back to normal.

Only trying to cut 4ft grass with it .regret selling my old 55cc echo ,I had 3 Strimmers at the time and was given it for nothing
4ft grass will be trying to wrap itself around the strummer head slowing it down. You say only but it’s far too much for a mid range not very powerful machine. Try using the blade that comes with it. It will probably work better than line on long grass

Alright mush, it’s a 91 Stihl which I think is 40cc .came with a tree cutting blade but never came out the box as underpowered even for a line .i only run 2.4mm and struggles after a while in thick grass /weeds .its alright for the first half an hour usually ,when it first starts the idle speed is fine then after the 30mins it will be going at full speed lol making holes in the lawn
2.4mm is quite thick line for the lack of power on that machine. Cc is the wrong thing to be looking at anyway it’s hp that’s important. I run 2.7mm on the 410 which is41cc at just under 3hp I think. It’s no good blaming the machine when you are using it for the wrong job/ expecting too much out of it.

I got a stihl one for around dads farm for cutting back sapling etc to regain lost space. Did the job no idea how long they would last as it was a one time job and blade will be going a bit rusty on shed wall now. Worth the £20 or so it was back then. Better than the standard blade

we are thinking of getting a wheeled strimmer at work, we have a few places were we strim longish grass and rake it off.
currently we use stihl fs 450 strimmers which seem to have the power to cut and leave a good finish, will a wheeled strimmer do the same??
iam thinking a self drive one would be better but idealy with the option to adjust the speed in case of longer grass, a few of the demo vids ive watched the machine seems to fly along and give a possibly dodgy finish.
the grillo machines look pretty decent.
any thoughts welcome
thanks carl
Stick with the stihl! The wheeled ones are good for knocking heavy stuff back as they take really thick line however the finish is crap. I help my dad on farm to knock some verges around the sheds down a couple of times a year. Perfect for that as it just gets left where it falls.
just to add it’s fairly easy to “throw” stuff to the side with a brush cutter as you go making clean up easier as you probably know -

Are you comparing the skill of a surgeon who can make lifechanging changes to someones body and quality of life to a group of guys that chop down trees?
Surely you wouldn't be so thick and low IQ... but nothing surprises me
Well that was easy😂 it’s all about perceived value isn’t it? You have proved you don’t value a tree companies time..................

I had originally come here to try and identify which oak tree it was, only in the last few days it was decided it was going to be cut down.
In any industry it should be fine to question a quote you get. I don't see questioning why something costs £2000 for one days work is such a surprise to anyone.
Why does a knee replacement cost £15k. It’s only a few hours work......

It's a shame as I don't agree with how the english language has been hijacked and effectively banned the use of ordinary words which I used to illustrate the point. However I did not intend to offend, especially not Saul who I enjoy reading his antics on here. I'll let it drop rather than dig a deeper hole.
Even the word originally used that upset Saul (and I’m not saying it isn’t offensive) has within living memory gone from mainstream to the evil list of words we can’t use anymore. I remember Robisons jam and certain toys that you could collect

Looking at the spec of this Fog machine it takes 4 minutes to warm up🤔, could be too late by then? That’s the problem with most of these machines.
Ah no idea about that just saw 50m3 a minute so would fill up in a container in no time. After it warms up it seems. Oh well

Sounds like something I'd do. I've been looking at large smoke grenades mounted and wired to the door somehow. Those security fog machines are expensive and most need AC power and a pre-existing security system
https://electromarket.co.uk/beamz-s-500-fog-machine-with-100ml-fluid
pone of those at the back on a battery system? Triggered when someone messes about?
open door and boom smoke everywhere! Might be enough to make someone think for a minute?

They cannot refuse to sell you a truck unless taking out finance that is just a silly statement. The deal was better i have no doubt but no one can refuse a cash sale
They can do as they please they don’t have to accept payment upfront and they won’t take pound notes due to money laundering

Not just with lawnmowers but funny how many different products come out of the same factory
Yes loads like it with different stickers and boxes coming off the same production lines. It’s ok when it’s a good product like those mowers not so much when it’s crap stuff!

I'm looking for roller mower recommendations around the 21" size give or take.
Have been looking at a few and they all seem to have their good / bad points so interested what people are using and any know issues.
Ones I've looked at with comments I've heard are:
Honda 536 ... doesn't pick up wet grass well
Lawnflite Pros .... gearbox doesn't last and is £300 to replace
Hayter Harrier 56 ... one dealer said lots of plastic now that breaks .... although he wasn't a Hayter Dealer so wondered if it was sour grapes.
Interested in any comments good or bad on any of the above and any others I should be looking at?
The lawnflite and the Honda are the same machines with different handles and stickers....
the pro kubota is the same as well, and the Kaaz and the cobra.....l
