  5. Evening gents, i enrolled in the ABC (RFS) level 2 in cert arb last week and i have recently had my first folder with lessons 1 and 2, i was quite surprised in the content of the course and how in depth it goes, i'm looking forward to starting it and increasing my knowledge in Arb, has anybody dine this course recently with HCC or any other college, any feedback will be most appreciated both positive and negative, if anybody has there old reading materials or any paperwork that they have finished with again will be totally appreciated ( i will cover all postage cost etc) many thanks John.
  6. Mate give Andrew Dowden from ARBORCRAFT Solutions, he's based near Cowbridge not far from Cardiff, Cardiff Tree Surgeon | Tree Care & Tree Surgery Specialits, 07879897708, i highly recommend Andrew, he will train you more than just the stuff to pass assessments, i've used him for CS 30, 31,38, 39, 40. Going back after xmas for CS 32 and then 41, you wouldn't be disappointed my friend, John.
  7. Try EP 90 land rover gear oil, it loves the heat so good stuff on hard working bars and chains, i've used it for years with excellent results.
  8. Evening gents, What is the price on one of these cs620? and does the sugi hara bar come fitted as standard, did well against the husky.
  9. Look at lyons rope and rescue in tebay cumbria, excellent training centre did my level one there, 5 day course with assessment on the friday, not an easy course, good luck.
  10. No worries if you need anything just message, your only about 15 to 20 minutes away from Andrew Dowden's place, all the best with the studies.
  11. Hi, i spoke to HCC at the of last week as i'm also looking at doing my level 2 arb cert, their were very helpful and called me back to talk me through the programme so ive made my mind up im going with them, ive just done my cs 38,39,40 training with Arborcraft Solutions of Cardiff if you need some training or advice give Andrew Dowden a bell on 07879897708 he does an awesome 10 day climbing package which covers alot of good climbing and cutting techniques, i live in Ammanford where about in rainy south wales are you from?
  12. i see where you're coming from, but i've used stihl oil and super unleaded for years with no problems, many of hundreds or thousands or forestry men have done the same with both husky and stihl saws with no troubles, just a though gents.
  13. I feel for the gents that are running a number of saws to make a living, but i always refer back to the old saying buy cheap, buy twice, for me its stihl oil and super unleaded, or by the way no supermarket petrol, (sorry probably going to get in trouble for that one). may be old schoolish way (sorry) but it works, does all this LS, XP, etc double the price really work? im no engineer so only time will tell hey.
  14. Ive been told that by using super unleaded or higher octane that the small engine runs cleaner and cooler, it 100% works on 2 stroke motocross and 4 stroke motocross bikes, i use it with my chainsaws and had no problems over the the last decade or so, only a personnel choice but it works for me.
  15. Can i just ask a question, weather your using a stihl or husqvarna oil, or any other make, what petrol are gents using, unleaded or super unleaded, or top dog shell v power and bp ultimate, i own chainsaws Husky, stihl x2, Jonsered, Komatsu, plus a KTM 450, and the boys GasGAS 200 Enduro bike, generally the better the petrol, better the machines go, just a though, personally i use stihl oil in all my chainsaws and super unleaded petrol, but i'm lucky ive got both BP and Shell close by so getting high octane is fairly easy, any comments welcome.
  16. Good evening gents, I thought I would write a quick post to share with other members, if anybody is considering doing any tree climbing qualifications in wales or the south west, i've just finished my CS 38,39,40, training with ARBORCRAFT SOLUTIONS in Cardiff, the course covered the training for tree climbing and aerial rescue cs38, then onto chainsaw from rope and harness cs 39, and finally to finish off aerial pruning from rope and harness cs 40. The course is run from a fantastic woodland environment with some nice big oak, beech and sycamore tree's to practice on, Andrew Dowden the Instructor puts plenty of humor into this teaching and shares all his experiences. He is very passionate about what he deliveries to the course, when you think your at your limit, Andrew will take you several steps further and that feeling of achievement was brilliant. It was an excellent resourced course and we covered lots of different climbing techniques etc, doing and learning a lot more than just enough to get through the assessment, Arborcraft solutions do all sorts of Arb training, cs 30,31,32, all the climbing and rigging courses etc, plus wood chipper and brushcutter, i'm looking forward to getting a year or two climbing in before I go back for my rigging course cs41, if you would like to share my experience give ARBORCRAFT SOLUTIONS a bell on 07879897708 0r [email protected], hope this may help someone.
