  1. To be fair the OP isn't in the log business, and it doesn't read that he needs a biomass boiler amount processes day in day out. I buy in around 10 tonnes or cordwood about now every year. Slowly and safely I cut them into rounds with a 20" bar and then split them on a 7 tonne vertical. All done by hand, but not in a day or two but over say 10 different days depending on weather. I don't do it because I have to, I do it because I love doing it.
  2. It's an old post and account last activity: 06-12-15
  3. Where about in the world are you gdh? I'm looking for cordwood in the Oswestry area if that's of any interest to you?
  4. Guys I'm once again looking to stock up on cordwood. I'd even take the likes of conifers etc.
  5. I cut all kinds, and some quite large. I'll be honest, after looking at the battery saws there's nothing more than 14" bar size recommended, so dead in the water before starting!
  6. Hi guys, I'm looking for a new hedge-cutter, and I'm interested in possibly going battery. It only seems worth the jump if I consider selling the 365 and buying a new chainsaw in battery form too, other wise the battery cost isn't much worth it at the moment. I was wondering what the second hand value of a Husqvarna 365 X Torq chainsaw (70.7cc) purchased from F.R. Jones in 2014 might be? Only used in latter 2015 early 2016. I'd say she's had around 15-20 hours use in total so far, and has only been run on Aspen.
  7. Still looking for more now the first lot has been split and stored.
  8. I get all my cordwood from Tom at Egerton Tree Care | Tree Surgeon and Firewood | North Shropshire, Cheshire and North Wales (Wrexham, Oswestry, Whitchurch, Wrexham, Llangollen, Malpas, Ellesmere, Shrewsbury) Give him a ring as he's pretty flexible, he works across Shropshire and Cheshire so best give him a ring with your requirements.
  9. We have a open plan, and it does help move heat towards the rear of the rooms. A quick warning, while people have recommended the stove be hot, you can't have it off the scale hot as it will burn the motor out on the fan.
  10. A friend of the family was telling us his sales have been higher than normal. It seems that casual users are buying more than normal, as the gas is being left off all day, hence just a fire of an evening, where as they would normally have the fire on only in the colder spells. Although to be fair, he doesn't have any customers that go through a lot of wood, most of his are the casual user market.
  11. Well I made a bit of a fool of myself Turns out the Mrs got really annoyed that I might have ended up with £400 for 4 tonnes of wood so she phoned the arb. He was mortified when he found out that it wasn't clear that this was the first lot so that I could get on with some sawing. In fact there's another minimum of 8 tonnes to come with no more softwood, it's going to be pretty much all Ash, Hawthorn with some Oak too. I guess that £400 for 12 tonnes (9-10 in hardwood) is a whole lot better of an outcome!
  12. Pffft that's Kronospan's reserve pile
  13. What's a fair amount to offer for the load then guys?
  14. Here's a better picture of the load. free image uploader
