  1. Thanks for the replies and advice. Liking the idea of a 572, looks like a cracker. If my 254 doesn't respond to some basic tinkering I'll be sending it on its merry way to be reincarnated with Spud[emoji106]
  2. I use my saws solely for my own firewood harvesting and currently have a Husky 550xpg on a 15" bar as my felling saw and a 254xp on a 18" bar as my ground saw. Both run on Aspen and are more than capable of everything I ask of them. My 254xp is starting to show its age and can sometimes take a little more coaxing to start than I am happy with. I am looking to replace it with either a 576xpg or 372 either of which with a 20" bar. Appreciate that I am looking at professional level saws but I like quality kit and am firmly a Husqvarna fan. Is there a Husqvarna option I'm missing? 576xpg is my first choice at the moment! Cheers BP
  3. I use one of these and it works well for me. http://www.log-loc.co.uk
  4. http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/cooper/discoverer-s-t-maxx/245-75-r16c-120-116q-182689 These are a cheaper alternative to Duragrips and get some pretty good reviews from down under. Regards BP
  5. I got a new 550xpg a couple of weeks ago. Used it the other day on some wind blown timber. Switching between my 254xp 18" bar and 550xpg with 15" bar, the 550 gets my vote. Very "flickable" amazing pick up and power, cuts like a dream. Treat yourself to the Husky, heated handles are the way forward too. Regards BP
  6. Treat yourself and get a merino base layer they are great. Icebreaker or Chocolate Fish are excellent! Although they are both a bit more than your budget I have an icebreaker that is over three years old has had some pretty hard use and still looks and functions the same as the day it came out its box. Regards BP
  7. Clean up is not too bad but it does blast lots of little bits everywhere while your using it along with leaving longer lengths that can be raked. I cut some rushes and bramble etc the other day without a single choked head, you do need though to have a full set of waterproofs on and decent face and eye protection. I have been well impressed with it. Pretty sure ours came via eBay in the uk for around £20. Regards BP
  8. I would agree that grammar and advertising literature are certainly not this fellas strengths!!! On the plus side though his engineering design and manufacturing skills produce a head which is one of the better ones that I have used. Regards BP
  9. I have been having great results with one of these Airecut | The brushcutter blade so aggresively effective it should be illegal! Cuts through brush etc and copes with gorse etc Be prepared though it does blast debris everywhere! Regards BP
  10. Sounds good to me. I will be in touch. Many thanks BP
  11. Thank you for all the responses. Meindls it is then! Anyone know who is doing the best price on Airstreams at the moment??? Size 45..... Kind regards BP
  12. Hello Looking for a bit of advice. Looking for a decent pair of boots for groundwork. I have had previously owned Meindl boots(not chainsaw) and found them to be brilliant. Thinkig of Meindl Woodwalkers or Meindl Airstream or SIP Pro Innovation Best online deals appreciated too. Many thanks in advance. Kind regards BP
  13. Would have been better if the website had the training courses listed...... Blue writing on a green background is not the clearest either. Please update when course information is available. Thanks in advance BP
  14. Thanks for the info, on the face of it I think it will be worth more to me as firewood than exploring the milling option. Just wanted to check that I was not missing an opportunity. Kind regards BP
