  1. Hi all looking for yet more advice. We (myself and family) are planing to emigrate to New Zealand next year with any luck. I'm looking for advice on with training as I have a grant to use before we leave. I'm already a competent arborist (or I like to think so) with all my climbing, rigging, felling, formal educational qualification to level three and tree inspection and assessment qualification. The question is this how can I best use the grant I have to make me more employable and better asset to a New Zealand based company? I was thinking along the lines or some thing like emergency tree works and wind blow trees ticket, mini digger ticket or tractor tickets? I can't use it to get my HGV unluckily. I would love to do my level 4 Arb tech but would not have time to complete before we move so will have to wait. Im sure there are other courses or quals I could have over looked thats why I'm asking the greater community for any help and to see if there any thing that is really in demand out there? Cheers for all the help Dave

  7. Alright there I left the army after 8years in the infantry that was over 4 years agonI use a good training provider called Lynher training base in Cornwall got pretty much all my tickets from cs30 to Cs 41 as well as a level three in Arb and other various things so really got the best out of my resettlement package. I would diffantly suggest them even though it's a bit of travel time for your self I haven't herd great things about kingswood but can't talk from first hand experience so who nows. As for gaining experience and there for more money I found that getting my tickets gave me that foot in the door, the first company I work for we're horrible didn't now a pruning cut from a barn door but again it was experience pay was wank but got me time on the job, from there got a better job and now I run a team and am one of the lead arborist in the company's work for. But I never turned down a chance to climb always said yes to all the wank but there where I found i learned my basic skills. I've pretty much been in your shoes by the sounds of it so if you need any more help or adivce just message me more then happy to help Cheers

How's the price of loving compared with the wage for arborist can you live or is it a matter of just getting by do you think? I now wages vary but just again some more generalisation to have a ball part idea for a starting point.
