  1. Got to be hi viz mate. We work on high ways
  2. i am sure this has been done to death but I don't know the answer so I am going to ask. Having arrived home wetter then an otters pocket twice this week I need a waterproof. Cut and climb I hear you shout! I would if they did it in a hi viz. so I want the quality and fit of cut and climb but in a colour that passes health and safety. Oh and I wold like to not drown in my own sweat. ( called Clarke forestry today and they are sadly not even thinking of a hi viz version, thus loosing loads of sales)
  3. Still can't shift it, is there a recommended way of doing this? The claw hammer might have worked but the casting would be fubar.
  4. Nice, good fine tolerance engineering. Cheers mate.
  5. How on earth do you pull the oil pump out of a stihl ht 131? I know it's something todo with the thread in its arse but I can't remember any further. I also can't find a thread on hear which I have read In the past.
  6. Spotted a sign at the top a flight of stairs, it said no electric old peoples carts. I would have taken a photo but a coach load of French tourists were pissing them selves and taking picks.
  7. Umm, no wonder we get such rubbish service from the dealers when there is no competition. It's not good when a triad is effectively a closed shop. I will keep on it.
  8. Does anybody know who does training for workshop level chainsaw maintance ? I have spoken to several collages and they only do basic chainsaw NPTC . I spoke to stihl and they only train main dealers. I am looking to set up a workshop so would need precessional accreditation.
  9. Tried to get onto the forum last night and a message from ee popped up to say the site was blocked because of adult content! What have you lot been upto on hear?
  10. Helmet replaced. Old helmet not taken back as they stated photos was enough. No feed back on why the problem occurred. A second helmet is starting to have glue melting problems. Both bought in January. It's an Italian brand and as such I would have thought tested for proper sun/heat not the stuff we get. Any one else had a problem?
  11. i dont do the buying, trying to change my old school boss
  12. Clogged up pumps, had to put three saws in the shop at the same time all with oiling issues.
  13. It does but we know how much and it's effects because it Has been tested. Engine oil is tested for engines not saws. And judging by the insides of our saws the saws don't like it either.
  14. Is it good for you though? Inhalation of any oil is bad let alone one that tends to fling and thus vapourish a lot.
  15. Still nothing, the shop says that they are waiting for a reply. No sense of urgency then. Arb shops seem to operate in a customer service time vortex.
  16. I am no computer whizz but arb trader log in is driving me mad. It will not except my log in and want allow me to re sign up. Grrrrrr. Any ideas guys? Asked for new pass word and that hasn't worked either. Why do I need to log in again after coming through from the forum ?
  17. It was clogging the oil pumps
  18. Hi all, I need a bit of help. Basically the firm I work for uses cheep car engine oil thinned with parafin as chain oil. I have raised the environmentally implications to no avail. Does anybody know what the health impact to operators would be? Can't find any info on web as no body uses it for this purpose. Ta very much.
  19. I will update you once the arb shop has a reply from manufacturer.
  20. Stuff called Climb on. It's for rock climbers so doesn't soften the skin like most products. It will repair splits and all sorts. Not cheep but a tin last for ages. You get it from climbing walls, snow and rock, joe browns those sort of places.
  21. I bought a kask helmet back in January and I thought it was the dogs dangles, very comfy, looks nice. infact I thought it was great until about a week or so back the glue inside started to melt in the heat. It's been hot but not that hot! First the mesh fell out of the insides of the vents and it's got bubbling under the styrein The shop I got it from said they would send pictures off, sorry we don't do credits. Great, fantastic customer service as ever. Bottom line, if we sell it and it's shizer that's your problem not ours. I shall wait and see what the manufacture has to say. Has anyone else had this problem?

    New knife

About two months ago a friend of mine said he was making me a new knife for working in arb. Being as though he can make Damascus and pattern welded blades I was very much looking forward to the new piece of kit. I must say in am very impressed with it, so far it's been on my belt for a month or so and in that time it's cut electrical wire, chicken wire, my daily apple, braided rigging rope and made kindling. As you can see in one of the pics it has a 4mm spine so you can bash it with another log and make kindling. It's small , quite waighty in the hand and not likely to brake. It's custom made so if anyone is interested he can do any length of blade or tang or change the blade shape. Scabbards can be made whatever you want, I am a ground hog so mine is a belt sheath but a climber might want a harness sheath. Scalloped edge is also possible if you like that extra speed on a rescue knife, but mine goes through climbing rope at a rate of knots so I don't really see the need. He is charging about £100. Which is a lot dearer then say a petzle blade but it's 100% better quality and holds an edge when others have gone blunt.
  25. Hated my kuomos, rubbish on side slopes. Infact only good if you turn them round and use them on sand dunes.
