  1. I have a Jensen a540 and think it is a cracker of a chipper, it is a 7.5 inch machine and we turn the feed roller speed down and chip that sort of size wood a lot. Keep it all sharp and it does not bother it. It produces excellent chip and throws it a good distance as well. I have had mine 5 years and to be honest I expect it to do another 5. A low hour one would not be expensive and there is not much to go wrong. If I was going to go bigger, I would go for a 990 if you need it and can stretch that far, it does not weigh much more than the 90 and is 12inch. Jon

  2. I beg to differ. There is more to offer than money initially. Training someone takes time and effort. If you want someone experienced don't get an apprentice, if you want to invest in someone's future then go for it. My apprentice is coming up to completing his course and is already the best grounds man I have had work for me. I have great hopes for his continued development within my company.

  3. I have turned up to a 20" diameter sycamore resting up against another tree swaying in the breeze with a STEP CUT in it! It was in the corner of public cemetery and another "contractor" had done it, realised it was all wrong and scarpered asap. The mind boggles.

  4. I have a 54 plate hi cap tipper for sale, it has about 140,000 miles on it but it has been serviced regularly and had a lot of the common issues fixed. Injector seals, transfer box, alternator, starter motor, etc it has a KMR chip box with fold out lights and a cover. Oh and a hydraulic winch with auxiliary take off. It is a good and useful vehicle. My old yard was off road and so I needed a LR I now have a yard with concrete hard standing so am getting a Mitsi 3.5 ton tipper. You either need a LR and have one or you don't. That is my reason for selling. PM me for more details, if interested
