  2. NFG Funnily enough it wasn't strange at all leaving the old house. It didn't seem like home anymore. In all honesty I'm much happier now. I have often thought about life in France, I've only been on a day trip from Jersey but I think I could survive. If I didn't get run over looking the wrong way when crossing the road. Now you have got me thinking about joining Le Match. com or whatever. This has opened up a whole new world for me. No fears, no regrets. Mercy pour votre bon... err.... wishes Well I tried Sent from my GT-S5839i using Arbtalk mobile app
  3. It's only been two weeks. I've settled in very well. There's a couple of truck drivers in the opposite corners who have been in vans for years. They are helpful and full of advice. Sent from my GT-S5839i using Arbtalk mobile app
  4. Well I'm in! Nothing posh, Coachman Mirage 1998. Dry, warm and comfortable. I'm on a nice site too, an old orchard, or they could be Hornbeam! Lots of wildlife, horses, tractors who needs a tele. I'm sitting watching the evening sun go down with a cuppa and chocolate tea cakes. I feel truly blessed. I know some of you have sadness in your lives at the moment. Keep strong the clouds will clear and the Sun shine once more. Thank you all again for the help. 5. Stand a few children around the tree. Then ask them to add more children to make a circle to show how far it's roots spread out. The winner can fell it. Only joking. If you're not OCD let them try wearing some ppe or a harness. Sent from my GT-S5839i using Arbtalk mobile app
  6. I'm glad all is going well. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Take care if yourselves Rich Sent from my GT-S5839i using Arbtalk mobile app
  7. This is only a quick reply to let you all know I have read your posts. I am overwhelmed by all your kindness to be honest. Thank you for your interest and taking the time to post. I will be back later. Sent from my GT-S5839i using Arbtalk mobile app
  8. Again, many thanks all. It is making me want to do this even more now. I shall be having a good look at those links. The trucks look a good idea, if you are combining your business and home under one roof. Cheers all Rich Sent from my GT-S5839i using Arbtalk mobile app
  9. Thanks all. I have been told about the insulation. To be honest where I am now is so old it's like throwing fivers on the fire in winter. No insulation apart from the loft. No damp proof course, double glazing or central heating. Hell, the floor tiles are lying on earth in one room. Still it's made me the man I am today Any suggestions for out of the way places to stay? 10. I am leaving the house I was born in 58 years ago. It was rented by my parents. Then when they had both passed away I took over the tenancy just to save upsetting the old pet cat. Last week I had to have the cat put to sleep after a short illness so now it's time for a change. Financially and to save doing the housework I think something like a caravan makes sense. I'm single, no children so I was looking at a 2 berth van to wander round the country in. A friend has done this for a few years and told me some of the ups and downs. I would like to ask if anyone here has, or is, living in a caravan full time? Would you mind sharing your knowledge? How do you sign up for doctors and dentists too? Thanks in advance Rich Sent from my GT-S5839i using Arbtalk mobile app
  11. That looks a tricky hedge to dabble with. A neighbour asked me to have a dabble with about 5 metres of gaps, brambles, hidden netting, and oh yes, a bit of hedge. Thankfully I did not take pictures. I would say your effort is a lot better than mine. I am definitely going to try again I really enjoyed it Sent from my GT-S5839i using Arbtalk mobile app
  12. One answer to these people comes courtesy of Paul Schofield presenter 'This Morning'. When his daughter came out with something such as ... 'It was like the best thing ever'. He would ask. 'Was it the best thing ever, or, like the best thing ever'? He did not say if it stopped her saying it. Only that it caused her an equal amount of annoyance. 13. Just suck it up and move on! Did ya see what I did then Sent from my GT-S5839i using Arbtalk mobile app
  14. If you buy one with a sliding door go for one with the lowest step you can find. I guarantee you will kick a high one everytime. Mine is aluminum frame with polycarbonate panels held in by little clips. Even in a sheltered spot the winds this winter blew a couple of the pqnels out. No damage and easy to put back but gave the neighbors a laugh. Sent from my GT-S5839i using Arbtalk mobile app
  15. Oops! I have to confess that was a joke told to me by a local character. My apologies for misleading you. Rich Sent from my GT-S5839i using Arbtalk mobile app
