Hi Martin, it sounds like your chainsaw trousers did a good job there ! One idea to help reduce the risk with the hung up trees is to buy a hand winch e.g. a Tirfor so that you are not near the hung up tree when it comes down. The medium sized Tirfor is a useful size since not too heavy to move around and you can always double the pull with a pulley if needs be.

sounds like an interesting idea, perhaps use the spark plug as the antenna ?

Awesome, great track and great performance

Logosol do a chainsaw mill which supports the log at waist height. This wouldn't work for very large diameter logs, but could be used for smaller diameter logs. Further details here http://www.logosol.co.uk/sawmills/m8/

My 046 is still pulling like a train, a great saw

Hello Countryboy, I am burning horse chestnut at the moment. It is fully seasoned and fairly light. It burns ok, heavier than seasoned willow not as good as the heavier woods but good enough. I am keeping my better logs for when it gets colder

The oxdale trailer mounted splitter looks good, but the table looks awfully low?
I find it to be a good working height for me (6ft tall)

2nd hand maybe.....

Another thumbs up for Oxdale, RT400 video here

Hi Steve, I have just bought a batch. If you have a tablet folks, then you don't even have to boot up the old PC, so one more reason to support this worthy cause. Steve doesn't ask for much from us to support this wonderful site, so now is your chance and you might even be lucky enough to win one of the wonderful prizes

Thumbs up from me as well.. Great to deal with and some nice products, the Logrite stuff is top quality and beautifully engineered (e.g. hookaroon, cant hook), yes not the cheapest, but a joy to use and should last for years and years

Hi Jose, I am glad that you weren't wearing it at the time !

Hi Phil, good luck with your new venture, yes could you put up the list of things that you are selling please with what you are looking for them, thanks.

Just pop a few real logs in hers so that she can see what she has been missing

I have been very impressed having used an Oxdale RT400 video here
A key thing to watch out for is how fast the ram moves since that has a big effect on productivity and this machine has a fast ram. Also the non auto return i.e. you control the up as well as down speeds things up with variable length rings. I split approx 1 cubic metre an hour with this machine, used approx 10 litres of petrol in a day. This is somewhat over the 1,400 budget unless bought 2nd hand, but if nothing else, a good benchmark when looking at ram speed. It has a Honda 6.5hp engine so that should last a long time. This machine is a lot faster than any of the electric log splitters which I have used. -
It would be interesting to find out who makes the engine

Cheers where did you get your pressure washer from? Just doing a bit of shopping around before i buy!
Hi James I just checked and it was from here http://www.cleanstore.co.uk/

Cheers for that, I'm quite interested in this one at the moment:
Nilfisk E140.3-9 S X-tra Pressure Washer - Nilfisk Domestic Pressure Washers - CleanStore
Looks good, I have budgeted around the £200 - £250 mark as well
What do you think?
Looks good, very similar to mine, just 10 bar less and slightly lower flow rate, I reckon you would be pleased with that one. The long wind up high pressure hose saves a lot of messing about since you don't have to keep moving the pressure washer to do bigger areas/go round a car etc. I wouldn't be worried about too much pressure, just be careful and leave a bigger gap between the nozzle/car etc and the gap effectively reduces the ferocity of the water jet.
