Sign your car/van
get a uniform
word of mouth is best, ask for work wherever you go.
start with keen prices and get known.

Against. please sign if you dont want the cull.
if they had proof it was the badgers then fine . but they dont, they are not even testing the culled animal to see if they are infected. TB can also lay dormant in cattle so may test clean , and when retested be infected. There is not enough knowlage to start upsetting the "natural ballance"

I've used that Clarke one for a couple of years now with no problems. I bought it on a VAT free offer, too. The cross splitter is only useful for short, straight grained stuff, there's not enough oomph if there's any cross grain stuff, but if you stick to the standard single wedge it's pretty good IMHO.
I also bought a Titan electric chainsaw from Screwfix on a daily offer (£50-60 IIRC) & despite my scepticism that has been a revelation - it's really good.
Reason I've gone electric back at base is, of course, SOLAR PANELS! Why pay the chancellor to buy petrol & oil when I can get paid for using my own electricity?
hi, have you had any oil leaks? is it hoses between the pump and the ram or is it all hidden/in a casting?
-
Hi bikewoo! I've not used am electric splitter myself so I am unable to comment on their power, but I was thinking myself about getting one just for myself and family's log supply. Had my eye on this one from machine mart Clarke Vertical Log Buster 6 - Machine Mart they send out a vat free offer every month so if I used that it would be mega cheap...but is it nasty? Would also be interested in people's views on the leccy ones...
hi , as doobin righty says they are the same machine, they both claim different ton but the motor is the same. When i tried to get parts for my clarke they took forever , then said they cant get them. I actually got them from "Handy". same machine different colour.

I have a "clarke" splitter 4 ton which has served me well over 5 years with a few mods, but i keep busting the shaft oil seal and it leaks a bit. I want to upgrade not not sure what to get?

hi. i know its not a pro splitter but from reading the forum over the last few weeks i have noticed there are a lot a different people and skills on here. there are a few threads on splitters but not much input on electric. I spilit arb waste that i can scavenge for free and try not to buy wood. I am a retired joiner on medical grounds, not an arborist but have cut wood with a few saws over the years. I have a good knowlage and love of timber and find this site very interesting. If anyone has the time to spare and the knowlage of the above machine or similar I would be very grateful. My budget is about £500. As i said , be kind to a newun.

as an ex joiner and recently had a few done by a local firm. i would think more the region of 2k. try and find a local man. word of mouth is best.

It could be a shaft oil seal. Cheap to replace.

What machine is it on ?

Can't go wrong for the price.

if you get one with a small tank you will have a bit of quiet time when using it unlike the others that make constant noise. a 25l tank on an oil free comp will do all you wish and more, and never need to check anything. Just plug it in when needed. You wont wait long for a 25l tank to fill, i often use whats left in the tank with the air gun to clean things when it is unplugged.

thanks david, makes sense. i will have a look at that thread later.

Both please.
as in the link between them.

I'm still not quite there yet. I can't get the bleeding thing started for love or money. The chap at the dealer started it up while I was there so I know it works ok. However, I cannot get it to produce the initial fire with the choke fully out. At the moment there is only the fuel in it that the shop put in to test which isn't a lot but the primer bulb fills up when I pump it so there should be enough to start. I've checked the spark plug but it wasn't sopping wet or anything but I've cleaned it anyway.
I've got the front handle pushed forward to engage the chain brake. I've pulled the blue choke lever fully out and the on/off switch is up but it doesn't seem to show any signs of firing.
Is there something I'm missing. If anyone has any advice I would be grateful.
try it with the choke in, are you standing on the handle and pulling? fast pull rather than a long pull, you are not starting an old car!

my friend just bought a husqvarna 135 and its a great saw, and will outlast the cheaper brands and always be able to get parts/service. he paid 189 , that was with a spare chain , 2 stroke oil and bar oil.

I'm not having a pop Jon. Just a question.
-
Will it work one handed as standard? I know its safer but not as quick. Why is it that small machines are two handed but large pto spliters are just on a single valve / lever?
-
hi, i was looking at the titan 7 ton , but wondered if it could be modified to work one handed. by changing the switch for a locking one? or do you need to release the switch to return the ram.

ok, after being told of the machine is the same as other brands i have been looking around. I have noticed that the machine mart, woodstar etc are a smaller machine and the pump is inside a casting like the horizontal machines, the size up has a seperate pump attached with hoses and a higher tonage. I have found riko, handy and Mitox to sell the larger modle. Anyone know of the same machine under a different name? Thanks for all your input so far. The machine i am talking about is below.
