You could post on here when you have a job on and I'm sure someone would take the timber, and a sign where you are cutting saying "free logs", there is a lot of people that love free stuff.

Not been in a while but think they are still going.

Foxhill Timber Recycling will be able to take it all, dont know costs?

If the tree has snapped due to fungus the wood will have little heat when burnt.

Record make great lathes, if you can go for a cast head with solid bars as it will be more stable. Clubs are good and the nec do a big show every year.

i have had a few chimney fires with our old fire, down to lack of sweeping or christmas trees. when you do the flames will be out the pot and the noise is a very loud howl. if its all quiet with no sparks flames i wouldnt worry. after a fire there is a lot of white smoke out the pot. could be worth sweeping it though.

Using a chainsaw inside would upset the neibours more i would have thought, unless you are detached. Even the electic saws are very loud. Maybee a different type of electric saw if noise is an issue.

I got the 4 way wedge from machine mart and it fit's a perfectly, one word of advise if you buy the wedge from mm parts dept you also need to order the m10 handle that hold it in place. I have just used a m10 eye bolt that works fine, but for £17 delivered its still cheap if a little rough. I gave it a quick sanding with a flap disk and it works great. I have put a few 16" x 16" chestnut peice through it with no problems. The pics are before and after a quick touch up.

Any pics of the holy shed?

I have often been called a tool for general use. I too use 16" but I want the 4 way for the easy stuff and kindling.

Hi bikewoo, my 5 ton horizontal splitter has just died and is beyond repair and this time I am after a vertical splitter. I am thinking of getting the same one as yours.. I will probably by from Riko since they are not too far away and have generally good feedback. Having used yours, would you recommend it ? Can you adjust the ram so that it retracts to a lower height to speed things up ? I have tried to find a video of this log splitter working but haven't found one yet.
Many thanks
hi Log, just a short clip, taken on my mobile while opperating the splitter! Not the best vid in the world but you can see what to do. Good job i did the mod.

Hi log, I have not done lots with it yet but have done a few test peices and I am impressed. I bought mine from , internet Gardner .co.uk for £439. I think that is the best price around . You can adjust the ram stroke and it has a 10m cable . I will try and put a for up today for you to see. I have ordered a 4 way wedge from machine mart as they are the cheapest for them, hope it fits. £17 delivered. When I phoned riko they wanted 530 inc delivery.

I bought the handy 7 vertical from internet gardener.co.UK and it is much faster than the horizontal type I used to use. I started a thread on splinters a while back.
