Corylus colurna maybe? Though would expect cobs at this time
  2. Thanks, thats helpful, any ideas of the potential significance to the tree if it is P. Ribis. I'm not too worried because of the trees size and location but always interested what we may expect. The lady you met, Carla, was american rather than Canadian. The group of pines were P. Radiata and all dismantled in the last two weeks, except the one with Ganoderma which came out after storm damage......3 years ago, I think? A real shame but they were planted as a shelter belt and their time had come. The monoliths will have climbers planted around now to display on and hopefully stand for many years yet.
  3. Chris, sorry I missed you on friday, I was gone by one oclock. Just heard you did go to the gardens though and got a sample of the brackets. You'll have to let us know the results if possible. Strange coincidence that the hampshire fungi group were in doing a foraging weekend, you may have seen them. Apparently they suggested Phylloporia ribis and again, looking at some online photos its a definite possibility. Its such a mine field sometimes!

Hi Chris?

If you do come to the gardens tomorrow, you can ask the front desk to radio me if you want and I'll happily show you the trees location or send you in the right direction at least

Hello Rob

I've not been in contact or bought from you before but would like a guide price for some kit if you don't mind. I'm on the Arb team at the Harold Hilliers Garden an we are looking to start milling some of our timber to use on projects around the gardens.

Would be running the mill on a 066 with a 36'' bar so would need the 36'' Alaskan plus two ripping chains so we have a spare. Not sure which chains but have read people raving about the Granberg so probably these.

What would be the realistic diameter of timber we could cut with this set up?

If you could let me have a price for the above that would be great so I can pass to the boss and hopefully I'll be in touch soon to place the order.

Many thanks, Will
