  1. If you've got money to spend then I can't recommend Norrona jackets enough. Used them in some terrible conditions, including multi day trips mountaineering in torrential rain and never once have I got wet, from sweat or rain. My current jacket from them is the Norrona trollvegen dri3. A simple durable design.
  2. The policy makes it a nightmare to promptly maintain Stihl saws and avoid downtime. We have been staying away on jobs in the past where parts have failed mid afternoon and we were able with a single phone call to order the part and have it arrive to our location next morning. Job could continue without having to have the downtime of us needing to sideline the saw, locate the nearest stihl dealer and drive there to have them order a part and then have to return to collect it when it arrived a few days later. The reason the large online retailers are soo successful is because they turn over so much business they are able to hold significantly larger amounts of stock. Thus when you need a part you can order it there and then and have it delivered to you next day. I want that service to remain available. Husqvarna policy allows me easy and quick access to parts which means saws can be maintained quickly without the business losing money. Stihl policy requires me to take time out my day, restricts me to the pricing of my local dealer and creates the expense of having to dedicate man hours to travelling to order and subsequently collect parts, which costs the business money. The difference in performance between the two brands of saw is not significant enough for this not to be the deciding factor in which equipment I purchase for my business.
  3. Is tough in the heat, we have a similar policy about type Cs and are expected to wear them. Definitely wear synthetic tops as they move the sweat away from the body much quicker and tend to stay drier for longer. I wore that neck thing that clips onto my lid the other day and keeping my neck out the direct sun helped. I also wear a cooling neck band in the hottest part of the day which helps a little. Seriously thought about those cooling vests recently when I have been overheating, but I think that the cost, the practicality(they only stay cool for a few hours) and the fact that they are heavy and not breathable all work against them. I'll just stick to lots of cool water and bananas. ...and a healthy dose of MTFU
  4. That second one on the list(£250, maintenance, crosscut and small fell) is the CS30/31 and last one is CS32, or whatever the new equivalent NPTC 201,202,203 units are. Basically they are the ones you want.
  5. Most of my firewood used to end up in a ramshackle heap at the bottom of the garden and last year I found the time to knock up my wood store. Picture is from before winter, a little fuller now with this years stock and pallets underneath too.
