I am looking for people who are willing to work as part of an established crew, with basic tickets as a minimum requirement. Hours and wages to be discussed, based on experience.
  2. Employers liability does not cover injury to staff . It covers the employer against a claim by an employee . Everyone must have personal injury cover!

  4. I have used alot of cordless drills and by far the most powerful and reliable are the makita. If you want to spend the money try screwfix for the full combi pack. I dont know how i ever lived without it.
  5. cheers guys, I may well hunt ebay for an old 200t and rebuild mine. and treat my self.
  6. My ms 200t has finally got to the point of no repair (its lasted nearly 10 years) so I am looking at a new top handle saw. As I have the full Makita battery product range I have had a go with there top handled saw (rrp £230) and to be fair it was pretty good. I love stihl and husky's for the bigger saws has anyone used a battery saw for any length of time and how do you rate them ?
  7. It's down to the individual concerned from the council. I had a similar problem and my argument was and I admit it was pretty full on was that the officer concerned is not representing the client but the council. And if he is advising using a specific contractor then he is representing the contractor and not the council. I took the council to court over the matter I did not win but the tree surveyor was fired. Jobs for the boys etc. Only get the council involved once the client has signed for you to do the work
  8. There is always someone cheaper. Could be a new starter or a business with no work. Set your rates and stick to them . As a ball park I charge a minimum of 350 for 2 guys plus chipper if access is good and I get the timber
  9. Hi guys and girls I am on the lookout for timber. Anything but spruce conifer etc. Ash sycamore is ideal. Anything over 18 inch and at least 8 ft long. I build a lot of carved benches and have almost run out of big stuff. Quite happy to pay . I will remove from site. I'm based in North derbyshire. Happy Christmas

ok so section 211 sent in along with all the details maps etc, however the client has got permission to go ahead with all the work detailed from Natural England (as the site is an SSSI). So who has final say in the work going ahead Natural England or the Park Authority? all the help is much appreciated guys. Cheers Mark 07734324597
  14. If the building is not permanent ie it can be moved you will not need planning, I expect it is just the size of it. I use shipping containers.

    ecology reports

cheers guys, will be in touch
  16. TPO's seem to change county to county, the restrictions put on on a tree with a TPO can be extensive . The council will also take no liability if the tree goes over even if they have surveyed it. the best bet is to take out an individual insurance policy on the tree

    ecology reports

Im based in north derbyshire peak district. The ecologist mate I have spoken to has indicated that to do any form of complete survey with no info on what it is he has to survey will be almost impossible. surveying bats this time is impossible for instance. I can and have completed basic tree / woodland management surveys and put forward re-planting schemes etc which have been accepted however on this occasion it seems very vague as to what is required other than an ecology survey.
  18. Hope somebody can help. I have been asked by a client to price up a large amount of work on his small woodland. Its in a conservation area and basicly involves removing anything dangerous and thinning out. I had a tree conservation officer out and I have been told to put an ecology report together... It has not been specified as to exactly what it needs to contain (bats, species, diversity, flora) I have just been told to right a report. has anyone any idea where I should start? cheers all
  19. There is always someone cheaper in any trade, you set your hourly rate based on the conditions of work and stick to it. some people will say you are to expensive, others to cheap if thats the case then you are about right on your pricing. I priced a huge dead horse chesnut with a footpath for access next to a graveyard to top it off it was leaning over a listed building. would have to carry all the timber 100 yards to the trucks . I priced it at 975 and a big local firm got the job which they priced at 500 . for that they can have it as I would lose money.
