Aw well, just a thought!!

It's one of 2 things. The 281/288xp was a great saw. It had 2 coils though. an ignition coil and an electronic coil. It was almost NEVER the ignition coil ( the one next to the carb). It was always the electronic coil (next to flywheel). Apart from that, the red wire going from the elec coil to the ign coil has a poor connection, it jumps causing a misfire and lack of power, a wee crimp and bingo!!

Hi mate, not had time to read the last 40 pages!!, but if has not already been suggested ,why not invest in an MS 362, 15,16,18,20" bar. More powerful than the 241 but lighter than the 441. Also if you want to spend 441 money buy the 461. Better power and about £30.00 in it!!

It was dropped because the machines were to close to one another . The MS271,291 and 391 are all semi pro saws for Farms, Estates and Landscapers. The latter as I say is very popular.

I am an honest guy and that's why I run a successful dealership. I sleep easy at night. This is my final word on this subject. I will however still help (for those who want it) on technical issues.

No need for rudeness, it's a very popular saw for us, we sell loads of them, mostly with the 20" bar.

You may be able to buy a powerhead from those dealers who flout the rules. Think I might need to get on the phone again and find out who does....

Can I draw your attention to the heading of this thread?. "Semi pro saw choice". What I suggested is a semi pro saw. You seem to have suggested 2 pro saws. Are you finding this a bit difficult?

Forget all the Echo and Dolmar/Makita rubbish. Spares are hard to come by and expensive being jap. A Stihl MS391 20" is a lovely saw. Good power to weight ratio, 2 years warranty!!

All Husky, Stihl an Oregon oil is 50:1. Why are you farting about with 40:1 and 45 :1?

Again, lots of interesting comments. I don't really have any more to add, other than I just wanted to let you see the other side of the story from a dealer point of view.
