I think I will need to find a local service agent any idea`s? , with wood I `m good but engines it`s limited!!! thanks for the helpful info.

Ah!!!! looks like there is scaring on the piston Spud, what`s the next step now, can it be salvaged?????

Advice please, just started to play up , have been using this saw for milling and after about five minutes maybe more of running ok started to loose its ticker over then stop,and then a bugger to start again,tried it this eveing and it started from cold but then wouldn't idle without giving it throttle then died again,so not sure but I hoping its nothing to bad???

Had a couple of days in the forest milling some storm damaged softwood,we planked up with the alaskan then squared up on the mill that we made up last year. it gave us a chance o see how it worked and what modifications were needed, the new bar and chain i had from Rob made a big difference.hers a few pics ,the timber was for base for a deck area.

the best timber for the job is palowina!!,if you can get it or cedar.ideally make a template, cut the slab with the alaskan then shape up with the chainsaw,here`s a link to some of the boards that i machined up the timber for.!!! - Driftwood Surfboards

nice system Kevin,i to agree with everything you have said about the rhi!!!, I have the log boiler (orlingo) linked up with solar thermals which at the moment are working away ansome,but I could,nt afford to run the boiler if I didn't source and process my own wood!!

Hi Slim, the thermal store is 1000ltr,this year has been mild but, haven't yet seen a frost were I am, all so the solars on the roof help with the domestic hot water. I have had the system three years now and this year has been the best with the logs being 18 months of seasoning.

Runing a 25kw orlingo log boiler and will use 12m3 a year that's hot water and heating ,four bed house, although it hasn't been that cold down here .i buy in bulk and process myself.

hi folks!!!,I am a relative newbie to milling,and finding some great advice in the threads .i have an Alaskan and a 395xp which I bought couple years ago to make up some planks for building roof truss`s in a restoration project and ever since that when I get a chance cant wait to get the mill out!. looking forward to more milling stories and pics.
