  1. Theres a nautical place underneath the arches on Kew bridge the brentford/Chiswick side, Made me a bespoke heavyduty tarp for my Narrowboat.
  2. it sounds like a great oppurtunity to enjoy yourself.
  3. I got one that does that , I have threatened to cut his b@lls off with a blunt knife if he persists.
  4. As it says, I would like some help three days in Bracknell..Monday to Wednesday. NPTC tickets preferred. Contact via PM please.
  5. One of the tree officers for bracknell forest homes is a loler inspector, i think. Not sure if he works independently though. Might be worth giving them a call 0800 692 3000
  6. Howabout if i am on a referred job which on the site of the gardeners customer, and whilst on this job a neighbour approaches me and asks for a quote for works. Should there be recognition in kind that i am on the garden contractors patch, by means of cash gesture? Hypothetical but likely....I know this is a consideration in building trades.
  7. I think what seems fair for me at present, having taken on board all the views, Is that as im fairly new and unestablished at working for myself, with limited contacts and referrals to offer, the drink and finders fee on introduction is all i can and should be offering. Will be good to get to a place where i can be part of a good contractors network.
  8. my concern is that customers they have found me are now calling me independently to do more work. Should I still be offering the garden guy a payment on these jobs?
  9. I have two gardener contacts that get me work, that for one i pay ten percent of the priced job to and the other I have a more casual arrangement in that I see him for a drink per job he sources and help him with green waste and other practical support when he gives me a shout. In the event of repeat custom, which im getting, from the work these guys find me, should I be still paying a percentage or token gesture accordingly to them on such jobs?, is there an infomal code of practice in instances such as these:confused1: i dont want to damage any business relationships but equally dont want to be throwing money around needlessly.
  10. Cheers, I get you. Yes RHS website described the very slow growth. thats helpful to know.
  11. I would think that it wouldnt be major, as its quite condensed without any limbs visible, being reasonably small from memory, perhaps even hedge cutting and light pruning with a silky to keep it tidy and evenly shaped
  12. Hi What is the right time of year to work on a yew tree? varying times indicated on RHS and garden forums, so I was hoping someone might have some experience and suggestions on here. Many Thanks.
  13. I posted them fully expecting constructive criticism. Thats why I put them up. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
  14. This is how two of them looked in the summer.
  15. Thanks Daveyboy, These are after pics...so I may not have got them right at All!!..customer was happy with the shape, and how much tidier they were. Generally they were pretty messy, so i headed in the right direction, I removed all the crossing branches and dead and rotten pieces of wood from previous pruning, and aimed for shapes that looked balanced according to the spreading stems. I didnt know about the differing bud types so just cut equally around the bud forming branches on. Interesting to note I got the timing wrong for discerning the bud types, thanks for pointing that out. I think I read on the RHS website a while back that November was a suitable time to prune..can't be sure, but something stuck in my mind from somewhere.
  16. Hi, im inexperienced at pruning, but i have watched a few guys i have worked for produce some reaally nice work, although nowhere near the quality i have ground worked for, id like any opinions, comments, pointers on these, my first attempts for a paying customer. Cheers
  17. Cheers Al. Crew cab and 4x4's but distant memories, the golden age of learner legal is here.
  18. Just returned home from climbing and aerial rescue course. Whole group of four passed which says a lot for the team like atmosphere Roland nurtured. Got us to enjoy ourelves which really got the study and practical into our thinking with ease. Really pleased i had passed, but tbh by Thursday id learnt so much and my skills had improved so much with Rolands tuition, I would have left satisfied and considered the fee well spent if I hadn't. The assessment itself went smoothly without pressure, with an easy going but concientious environment provided by the assessor, allowing us to keep the team spirit going...It really was a great week for me. Accomodation was brilliant, room spacious and peaceful, spot on for study and revision, food excellent and staff really decent and friendly. Would love to attend another course. Cheers Rol, Hope to see you again soon. Darren W.
  19. Its Uncle not Grandad. A.Trotter trees. Fruit and Fir trees our speciality.
