  1. Had a call from my local council requesting a site visit to calculate my business rates. I have a open area of hard standing and a barn that is unused due to a council dispute which is ongoing! Im mainly doing logs and have lots of timber, some split and stacked and some waiting to be processed. Anyone else had this? Any ideas on what the rates are?
  2. still having a few problems with this! I have a total of 12ish acres locally, but have to write a management plan and a program of works. what operations are classed as forestry? I am mainly doing logs for firewood at the moment but plan on doing Christmas trees and possibly regenerating some of the coppice that the woodland was used for in the 70's.
  3. as i understand it they are saying that to continue with the building under permitted devolpment i need to prove that it is necassary for what im doing, which i have done in writing and they just ask the same question again! Main problem is i have paid for the building, done the groundwork and its booked in to be erected in 2 weeks, if i stop them building it will just get delivered and ill have to pay for erection at a later date....
  4. this is how i understood it to, ive only been doing this in my spare time.
  5. no i own it, the people before done christamas trees and copicing in the 70's. i pretty sure its never been anything to do with the forestry commision
  6. I think this is what im going to have to do. Can anyone recoemend a good agent to use?
  7. yes that would sound easier, however ive had lots of thing stolen recentley and an atempted theft of my ifor williams trailer full of logs! i was building the barn so i can keep my tractor and other machinery in it and have somwhere to work in the dry.
  8. made this recentley but after starting to fill with split wood the cack pannel is building out quite alot already, what so people tie the corners up with? Also a bit wories that the mesh might come away from the frame as its only spot welded on.
  9. no he says the permited devolpment did not go threw, there saying the building needs aproval from the forestry commision as well?
  10. i started this project beginig of april as i still had not had any sort of reply from my council. had a call today from then saying they never recieved my letter saying why i need the building, after saying that i have proof of postage and email the council man admitted that he recieved it but didnt read it! this was sent on december 28th 2012!! He is now saying that i can not carry on even though the groundworks are done and the building is all payed for and scheduled in for assembley in 2 weeks. I have been looking through as much info as i can find on the internet but can only find where it says they have 28 days to reply from the original permitted devolpment but cant find anything on the timescales on replys after that... Any help or advise would be much apreciated
  11. i have a oxdale splitter that i use with my ford 3910 or takeuchi tb016, works very well on both but could do with the lower table enlarged like others have mentioned
  12. been doing a bit of research into this and i think im going to look for a logosol m8 or norwood portamill. i would be interested in a second hand mill if anyone has one for sale.
  13. Im thinking of purchasing a chainsaw mill for milling some pine to use for the roof in a pole barn im building this summer. never had any experience or even seen one of these! any one recomend anything and are they simple to use, i think im looking to make 8x4 planks around 18' long idealy
  14. i have not put a notice up as there was no request for me to do this however it looks like i shold go and do it right now! what would i include in this, site address and size of building?
  15. anyone know where i can find the times put in place for this. I have been looking on google but cant find anything.
  16. they said i need prior aproval and asked for a detailed explanation of why i need a building, which i send in over a month ago and had no reply.
  17. i applied for permited devolpment under the forestry rule. originaly if i had no objection with in 28days i can start. however i had a request for more information which i have given but 1 month later and no reply? i was wondering if they dont reply if there is no problem?? or am i just hoping!!
  18. Ive put my reply in one month ago, had no reply at all and have tried emailing for updates twice! ive been looking up on timescales that may be inplace. Anyone know that as its been over 28 days from submitting my reply with no answer if thats the period gone so i can start the building?
  19. Fitted the 90 bend bringing the stove forward and it's noticbley better, I would say the draw from the chimney is not as good but is still working ok. Thinking of a Ecofan as well to help circulation 810 or the 812
  20. I was going to use this bend out the back as I don't think I have enough room on top for two 30 or 45 bends.
  21. I've got a 90 bend and was going to put the flu in the back and bring it forward. Is it much difference than having it in the top?
  22. Still not having any luck with my log burner. I have fitted a thermometer to the flu and I have it between 300 and 400. I think the burner is sat to far into the wall and my heat is going straight up the chimney, there's a gap of 5 or 10mm between the flu and register plate which I will have to fill.
  23. thanks for all the advise, it seems all the heat is going stright up? im thinking of getting a self power blower fan that site on the top, anu one used one of these?
  24. what mill do you have and how much are you looking for?
