  1. sorry to hijack the thread! I am currently having an appeal with the VOA, they have put a rateable value of £15750 on my 60' x 30' steel building 1 x 20' shipping container and 80' x 100' but of rough hard standing. I was under the impression that is I was doing woodland management it would come under forestry and agriculture and be rate exempt. I have searched local people doing similar work and not one is on the rating list! Really dont know where to go from here
  2. I have cut and split around 40 bulk bags of firewood, they are on pallets in the yard and have a pallet on top of each bag then another bag on top. I have had these covered up with a good quality tarpaulin but when i went to deliver some yesterday they are soaked! there seems to be loads on condensation. How do others store the logs? either in bags or lose. Thanks
  3. i have a takeuci tb016 with a grapple from dig bits. small machine but very powerfull for its size. easy to move from around to.
  4. lost service for quick hitch but i also use this for my log grab. the guy ive got to help me is quite confident that its not going to be to bad so ill just have to wait and see what goes wrong!
  5. Going to take the boom out friday (weather permitting) and go from there, apparently the pipes are Siamese and not sure if hydraquip can make them as there £327 plus vat and delivery from dealer!
  6. had a hose blow on the inside on the extendable arm on my manitou MLT2600 today, looks like i have to remove the inner part completley to replace. Any one had any experience with this? looks a nightmare of a job:scared1:
  7. with the pipes lose to the rotation part oil comes out of one when you pull the lever and out of the other when you push the lever. the other 2 are corect as the grab opens and shuts fine.
  8. not 100% sure I was hoping to be able to buy a kit to replace all the seals in the rotator, im quite sure there are no valves missing, the oils going where it should its just not doing what it should!
  9. the diverter valve is on the end of the boom, the two pipes from the top goto the feed from the machine, the 2 on the left goto the ram on the grab which works fine and the 2 on the right should run the rotator which i am having problems with
  10. This is what i thought! Anyone know who may be able to supply a seal kit?
  11. the grab opens and shuts fine but when i activate the solenoid to use the rotator it only goes one way, will move the other way very slightley but not much at all. You can rotate large logs by hand but sometimes it goes stiff and you have to rock it. Im pretty sure the pipework is correct as i piped it as the diagram sugested. Cant really warrent buying a new rotator at the moment:scared1:
  12. mine only has one service, the same as the ram for the quick hitch. this works fine as well as the ram for the grab that is also runs of the same lever
  13. no it only works the same way when the lever is pulled the other way. i am using a 6 port diverter valve and its opening and shutting the grab fine.
  14. I have just made a fitting for my telehandler with a timber grab and rotator but the rotator will only turn one way and does not stop very well either! The rotator is old but its made by valmet and still has the tag on it, anyone had experiences with these or know if repair kits are available?
  15. This is what i thought untill i got the bill for almost £16k! They have rated it as code 096 Factories, Workshops and Warehouses, Would be interested to hear what others have theres rated at. Thanks
  16. I have just had a rates bill for £15,750 for a building and yard the council say I am not allowed to keep! They have rated it as a warehouse and premises when its a forestry building and storage yard for timber. I plan on using the building to store my machinery in and to run my firewood processor in so I can use it in all weathers. If I have to pay £302 per week in rates alone I might as well pack up now!
  17. 311 is fine, 2.2 cdi same engine as 313 and you can chip it to the same as a 313 if you wish. 312 is old 5 cylinder engine. these mercs are great motors and go for ever
  18. yes I have had a specialist planning agent write up the appeal for me. just have to wait and see but it could take over 20 weeks!
  19. they did reply within the first 28 days asking for detailed justification, which I gave within 14 days. had no reply in 28 days after so emailed again got no reply, 2 weeks late emailed again with no reply. still nothing 4 months after so went ahead. It didn't take them long to get in touch when I put it up though!
  20. I original allied for permitted development for a forestry building, they asked for more information that I submitted then I didn't hear anything for 4 months so went ahead and had the barn erected. They have since given me an enforcement notice to remove it! I have 7ish acres of woodland nearby which I have a management contract for for 5 years. I plan on processing the timber from my land and the land I maintain into firewood and sell on. I have had the business rates man round already but have not heard anything back from him yet. hope this helps!
  21. I am currently having a planning appeal with my local council about a barn and hard standing yard to store timber on. I have been setting up a firewood business since 2009 now with large financial investment and now it looking likely it will all have to go. I own the land (about 1 acre) I have use of around 4 acres next door and another 5/6 a few miles away but nothing on a legal lease. If I buy timber in would I need different permission or would it still be classes as forestry? There argument is that it is not reasonably necessary. Any advise would be much appreciated as I am completely stuck!
  22. great looking bit of kit. would like to find one second hand if anyone has anything.....
  23. Looking to buy some kindling in nets ready to go for me to sell with my logs. Im based in Dorking Surrey and can collect locally or if someone can send on a pallet would be good.
  24. I am looking to move timber with my Manitou telehandler, a have lots of cord and also piles of rings than need shifting. anyone got any thing suitable for sale or recommend anything? thanks
