They are very similar to the multitel smx225 but the 2 main differences I see is the minimum width being 820mm compared to around 1m on the multitel and the overall weight being about 300kgs heavier on the Cela. Oh oh and mine is also rated to use as a crane up to 260kgs and comes with a "hook" attachment.

Thanks for the rundown on your problems and fixes...you're persitant that's for sure, most people would've got shot of the machine a long time ago I'm sure. The original manual is in German but it is soecufic to my machine as it states the serial number. I've managed to get a copy of an English manual from someone that has a 2018 model of the same machine and theirs states the specific serial number too. Neither include a parts book. As you previously mentioned the reach on mine is similar to yours, 12m outreach with 100kgs, 11.5 with 120kgs and 9m up to 230kgs

I bought it privately from Germany, saw the ad on Mascus. All well and good but getting a loler on it has required a few quid spending on English decals and manual etc.

Couldn’t agree more! When I first saw them I though there’s no way I’ll ever need them...then after trying them I don’t know how I ever coped without! Jobs are so much more efficient and kind of chilled out, not to mention the added safety aspect! I definitely don’t miss all the shouting and trying to catch people’s attention all the time ? all the way!

It's great on slopes because it has the extendable tracks for more stability. Plus on most spiders you can set the legs out to hover just above ground level if you're worried about the gradient or on uneven ground. I took my old spider through brooks, up and down slopes, across boggy fields etc. Only time I nearly got into trouble was traversing across a slope in a churchyard which was particularly soft...always best to go straight up or down a slope if poss ?

It weighs 2.9t so about 100kg more than the RQG18! trailer weighs 600kg empty so I’m bang on the towing limit...probably over with the ratchet straps ?

Ive had a platform basket RQG18 for the past 3 years and I’ve got really used to what it can and can’t do, find myself climbing out of the basket on the big trees but all round an excellent energy saver! But I’ve now invested in a CELA DT25 spyder and I’ve got to say the difference is massive. Obviously the extra height reach is a bonus but the configuration of the booms to allow up and over is an absolute game changer. Also the fact that the basket is attached at the top means you can sink yourself down a little into the tips without worrying too much about catching a pipe or cable! Also the fact that there is no knuckle to worry about swinging and hitting stuff. It is also really compact at 800mm wide at its narrowest...I could go on and on! Whatever method you use it really needs to be stiff like a wrench tether. I've used a edelrid quick draw sling and girth hitched it around the pinto rig then put a short length of garden hose over it to keep it stiff and attached the small hole of the sling to the wrench as normal...had no problems so far ☺️

I just wanted to share this with you guys as this is where I came looking for info on rig n wrench...Thanks Mr Bingham!!! I had this job in the pipeline which was some ugly old poplar pollards which had been left to regrow for some years 20+. So there were multiple long straight limbs growing off at various angles from the heads. One large limb had already failed and taken out one of the fences in this small garden but there were still plenty of targets around to avoid - fences, sheds, trampolines in the neighbours gardens etc. So whilst pondering a method to rig this down I stumbled across the rig n wrench...great for tip tying, relatively light rigging, minimal kit...perfect! Ive got to say it works a treat ?? The groundie I had on the day was an absolute novice when it comes to tree work but he handled it with ease as there were no complicated devices for him to get his head round, just pull and lower a small instructed...both of us were loving it! Obviously this has its limits although it's surprising just how big/long you can go with it but I thoroughly recommend adding it to your rig kit. Here's a little vid of us pulling a back leaner from over the neighbours garden - obviously not the slickest of camera work but hopefully you get the drift...
