  6. i'd go with the increased biodiversity. for a college project this will definately be the most effective thing to look into. plus you'll gain an understanding of a lot more things relevant to your course and the industry than if you go down any of the recreational ideas for studying.

  10. from what i've read previously they would think that was far to big for a 6 acre site. ive not read about it for a long time so cant remember the figures but the largest i saw was a fair bit smaller than that and for a woodland nearer a 100 acres.
  11. jake its the same idea just trying to get more info. theres colleges with foundation degrees which are level 5. so just looking into it.
  12. other than tree life are there other providers of a level 4 correspondence course? i spent loads of time on google but have found anything. lots of college with different courses but none correspondence.
  13. thats why i was asking for examples. i dont have anything at the minute i just want a general idea.
  14. hi, can anyone give me examples of jobs they've had surveyors in for and how much they have charged. i'm thinking of anything from decay tests on individual trees to surveying a woodland(plus decay tests).
  15. cool. in bristol theres loads of tree surgery companies. i get the impression theres generally an excess of climbers here. are you a freelancer too?
  16. so are the council running their own teams then? i had just assumed it was was all contracted out. atree is there many companies in edinburgh?
  17. i'm from dundee planning on headin to edinburgh when i come back. i lived there a few years and thats where my girlfriend wants to go. i'm tryin to learn german with the hope of doing some subbing there but at the minute its all just ideas. other than definitely moving to edinburgh next year!
  18. pault are you freelancing at the mo? i take it the set up around glasgow is much the same as round bristol. several housing association contracts, council contracts and so on? do you know any of the companies doing these so i can look their up their websites?
  19. yeah cant wait to come home. not sure when ill be moving back tho.
  20. I am a scottish tree surgeon but have never worked in scotland. Ive trained in somerset and been working in and around bristol since april last year. i hope to move back to scotland(probably second part of next year). so i'd like to introduce myself to the tree surgeons of scotland and hopefully make some contacts for work when i come home. cheers Chris
  21. cheers guys. anyone know good software or podcasts for learning german? i have a german flatmate so that'll help. pretty sure i want to go, the Rheinland is where i was thinking of as my parents live in luxembourg and its closest to the UK
  22. I've taken a fancy to working in germany. i studied the language in school and have always wanted to work abroad. i've found a few companies on the internet but before i go to the effort of contacting them i want to know a bit about working there. what the day to day work like; is it much the same as the UK? what sort of money can i hope for subbing, with 2 years experience and level 2 cs 30 ,31 ,38 & 39? any info would be helpful and appreciated.
