  1. Can see the temptation, free heat and a good roar.. but come on guys.. It's not the neighbours breathing it in you need to worry about, up in smoke maybe, but down in particulate in within a matter a metres from your flue. You, your kids, everyone willbe breathing all manner of toxins in. The earth is a great sink for this stuff.. the air is not.. compost don't burn. Anyone in the wood trade should be setting a good example, stricter clean acts are just around the corner either way ;-(
  2. Don't get it.. What's Eco about a fan that does a poor job of what a load of insulation in the chimney breast does very well? Oh, and at that, only when your burner is lit??
  3. Don't rely on the arrows alone tho..we have had two instances of liners with arrows printed the wrong way up!! You need to check that the inside of the liner spirals downwards, you should be able to feel the sharp edge.. It's true that you can sometimes get away with no liner if their is a sectional clay system in place, as long as it passes a core and smoke test, however, that is no guarantee of how long it will remain tight.. best to drop a liner..
  4. Or find a Morso approved dealer who is willing to do a deal on a new squirrel? You can PM me..
  5. I would disagree with the above posts in that Part J is only a minimum requirement, you have to ensure that smoke does disturb your neighbours. Yes, having it signed off is a must but it's not everything. Best advice is to be as conscientous as possible, kindle it hot and fast, burn smaller bits of well seasoned wood, not big wet logs obviously, and don't slumber it at the end of the burn.. open up all the vents and let it burn out as quickly as possible.. Maybe invite him round for a few beers and show him how little smoke it creates, but from your side of the fence..
  6. Lots of advice here! If your flue is not insulated then much of the heat your stove is producing will be doing what heat does best..rising straight up the void between the liner and the original chimney. I don't understand why anyone would line a chimney and not insulate.. except for the cost, oh and it;s a ball ache, oh and yes as mentioned above, try removing it. Still it is a no brainer if you want an efficient stove that will last and be easy to light and not slumber, and not pollute the environment more than necessary. Oh and cost you loads less to run..
  7. Hey T14, As the above posters, no you cannot have two appliances connected to the same flue, in some situations however it may be possible to fit two stainless steel liners into the same brick or stone flue. This will depend on the size. some bigger, older houses have flues more than a foot square..
