  1. Heres an old vid of mine [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2mfoJFoVBM&list=FL83VDp8HGp0ul4jT7S4Wzzg]Adjustable redirect - YouTube[/ame] I've refined it with 10mm ocean since. Is it similar to your idea?
  2. Hi Kev, Is it adjustable? or set up for larger (1/2 inch) ropes? Was there any research on the bushing being one way? I would buy it. I plan on being a maggpie that can chronicle the evolution of SRT work positioning tools. Something to bore the grandkids with. Cheers
  3. So Drew Will you be able to make it from toowoomba to the Arbor camp? I can help with transport from Bris if you need it.
  4. Drew Sep 14th, 2012 ArborCamp 2012 ArborCamp 2012! Where- Rocky Creek Scouts Campsite, 3246 Old Gympie Rd, Landsborough Qld 4550 When-Friday 14th & 15th September 2012 Camping and Bunk house accommodation available. 5mins from Australia Zoo! There's also a comp on August 11- No kiwis allowed to come a beat Henk or Mark-just kidding The camp site is about 1hr north of Bris
  5. Drew what do you think about doing one for our QAA arbor camp in September. Rob (photographer) said you may be keen when we spoke at the NSW comp. If your keen we can PM some details. Russ
  6. Gibon-Not really, Its was a bit slimy when wet, hence the slow climbing but... the leeches were really bad that day! They will follow you up the tree.
  7. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EE6Enox3yTs]Cylinder Fig - YouTube[/ame] Rec climb in a hollow fig. Footage is a bit dark so try full screen. Cheers
  8. Nice one Kevin, I like the whole 'soft shackle' idea. I have to give it a go with some old hollow braid. You can do the same thing with a strap and two biners, but two biners seem to get stuck easier and I really like soft links like this? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMOtBynojEo&feature=related]SRT Removable/ Retreivable Redirect - YouTube[/ame] Got anything les bulky than those leather sleeves?? Whats that stiff teather your using for the RW? (apologies for the derail).
  9. Albere- thats what crows sound like in Aus Just used an old eye sling (i was going to make a pulley saver with before the RW came along) prussic, ring and biner for my redirect. For the hitch tending to work well the tail must be inside the ring. It means I don't have to climb next to or thru my srt redirects, just get close enought to throw the sling over. I don't mind climbing back up to them with the RW though. Ben R- you sure could, that would mean an extra leg of rope and I'm trying to keep it simple/ cut down on bulk. Thinking about using some 10mm OP and sm DMM ring just to make it lighter cheers

  11. Majestic I still have the old fly rope. Its too stretchy for srt, disregard what the spec say, it is a stretchy rope. I rope wrench with my tachyon instead. My 2c

    Its so easyy!

Nice job Dak I agree AP poly is easy. I got 8m of the stuff, then I got into the RW- On the RW i like a very short hitch and the class db splice is a bit long and stiff. Any tips to keep it short but safe?? What cover tail taper are you using? Cheers
  13. Thanks for the great ideas guys Pedroski- I like your small base tie anchor rope idea Mog- the desired fork is too far away to tuck the RW through- I have done the throw and hope it doesn't get caught thing though Drew- nice one I knew you'd have a splicing solution- similar to loopie idea earlier. I've got something working OK- i try for a pic or video soon.
  14. Good question. I'm on RW so climbing back to the point shouldn't be that hard. Another option in this situation is to just untie the hitch, rope wrench, HC and biners and throw the rope thru- then retie the whole set up- I find that too slow so I'm after something to speed it up. At the last aerial rescue comp I saw, a few (DDRT) climbers used a short rope (1.5m) with an eye on one end and a hitch and biner on the tail- they chocked it round the redirect limb clipped their line into the biner(redirect) then slid it up the tail- They had to be fairly close to the redirect limb for this set up to work.
  15. Anyone have any ideas for adjustable remote srt redirect slings? eg throwing a loopie over an angled fork (thats very difficult to climb out to) clipping a biner into both legs, put your srt line in the biner then shorten the loopie by pulling down on the tail- I'm looking for something that can be tensioned/shortened with a downward pulling motion.?? Any help is greatly appreciated..
