Just had a delivery of some cedar Firewood and Ive hand carved some of it. Planning on turning another piece. smell is awesome and I think once I apply a finish I'm hoping the colour will pop even more. Was really nice to carve and the wood didn't tear once. I think I might save it all from the fire! So. .... long story short recommend holding cedar back if you get any

<p>There are some other photos of it in the gallery. I made it flat pack'able so fits together pretty simply. Its 1350mm tall and 850mm square at the base. Rough cut sawn timber with 50mm square uprights. Feather edge roof. Sold this one for £150. Went to fountain timber t'other day and they are selling them for £285 so figured might be a few quid to be made. Wadda ya think? Cheers</p>

Cheers guys, I think the others are printed onto wood where as these are burnt so take a little longer to do. Be good to find a machine to do it! :-)

Yeah was pretty sure i'd seen them before. They look machine done so i wouldn't be able to meet the 40p mark. I do mine by hand so probably looking at about £1 each. Quite like the wooden cards as an idea though. I think if you hand one to a customer i think they'll be a little less likely to bin it like a traditional card.

Think I've seen something similar on here or t'interweb before but figured I'd have a go at putting some business cards together for a friend's tree work business. I made it out of some old 5mm ply I had lying around. I burnt the lettering in with a soldering iron. Thought it'd be a nice touch if you're in the industry. Like I say I'm not claiming originality here but be interested to know what you think. Cheers

Wondered how long it would take you to put a photo of your chipper on here! This one took quite a while to begin with as I was experimenting with a Mallet and chisels on the nose and subsequently lost enthusiasm when it didn't turn or how i wanted. I managed the mouth and eyes yesterday in a few hrs I reckon. Sore wrist this morning though.

Got given this block of wood from a woodworker friend of mine and he suggested it might be a nice one to carve. I think he had intended on turning it. Anyway its my first bash as rounded eyeballs rather than flat ones and a mouth instead of a tash/beard (which always much easier than attempting a mouth) I also started it with a mallet and some old chisels hence the crappy nose but i ended it with my trusty hand tools which i'm much happier using. If i ever get some decent chisels i'll probably have a go with the mallet again. I literally have no clue what the wood is but it was nice to work. Gonna try another tomorrow i think.
