  2. Has any body here changed the hydraulic oil on a jo beau b31 110 tracked stump grinder? On first look today I couldn't see any sign of a sump plug or drain off. Pipe Can anyone point me in the right direction Thanks
  3. That would make a 3ft stump cost £72 No Or you can do all mine at that rate and I'll sell my grinder Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  4. If towing weights importance then the Nissan and Isuzu win over a tyranny by a long way Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  5. Cis isn't that bad once you get used to it Plus it's safe guards you if one of your submission doesn't pay his tax Without Cis a subbie could claim he is employed and thought you were making deductions and then hmrc will come at you for his tax when he doesn't pay his bit It doesn't strictly cover Tree work but if you do any work for builders / landscapers that work on construction sites, you can join the scheme Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app

  9. as a tr6 owner I can say it's great when it's working correctly but I've had more than my share of issues with the machine. All small problems but big enough to stop us working BUT an it's a big but, Redwoods backup has been and continues to be fantastic Always quick to try and diagnose and advise how to fix over the phone, if this fails, service engineers are fairly prompt and parts generally arrive by 9am the following day Which is pretty dam good I just wish I'd never had to find out how good the backup is Not sure I'd like to own a machine that was out warranty I'd like to try a tr8 but it really would depend on whether they get the reliability niggles ironed out
  10. Completely agree But it's not and never will be like that We have to work in the industry the way it is and adapt accordingly
  11. So , if the business needs have changed , the personnel don't have the skills and it's not economicly viable to train them : a) what do they do all day to earn their wage ? The can't carry out work they not trained to do b) how does the business go forward ?
  12. To a point that's correct but if the business needs have changed , the personnel don't have the relevant skills and it's not economically viable to train them, they are effectively redundant That's life - small businesses won't survive any other way People who argue otherwise should ask themselves why there are few full time jobs & this industry relies so heavily on subbies As with any other contractor - the OP prob doesn't have a bottomless pit of money Only the other day I was told employing someone is a bigger commitment than marriage , regardless of their commitment to you/the job This thread backs up that theory It should be a two way street where the numbers work for all concerned
  13. If they haven't got the skills / quals you need they could face being laid off Leaving you to replace them with qualified people that suit your business needs I too paid for all my own training in all my own time and think your offer is more than good A compromise may be for them to do it in unpaid leave rather than use up their hols
