  1. If you want an amazing jacket, I use the ex army goretex jacket. Nice and loose to help vent, hood fits over the helmet when lashing, affordable €70 and completely waterproof. The zip starts just above the waist so your harness is easy to access. The sleeves will let in water if you have your arms up but you could easily get neoprene bands to sleeve over jacket and wrist(old wetsuit forearms). Mine is 5 years old and still using it, Best of luck Eoin
  2. hey scraggs you need to decide what type of timber you are going to cut e.g. for planks(building) or fancy oddball stuff for carpenters. I have a peterson mill which is great and also owned a stenner(big bandmill). Also what are you going to do with all this timber? do you have space to put it, stack it , someone to buy it etc. I dry my timber and have too much at this stage and nowhere left to put it to keep it dry. Milling is great fun but you need to make sure you have a plan to either use or sell the timber peterson is the best 'do all' option in my opinion best of luck eoin
  3. Hi Lads, I'm on my second 540 xp now and thought the first one might be just out of a bad batch. I thought the auto tune might be causing the problem because although we try to get the fuel mix dead on, you cant be as accurate every time and this might cause fluctuations in the revs. Disappointed in the saw but would like to persist as the bigger huskys beat the stihls hands down with power. I have never looked at the dimensions of the chains but I think the kerf might be slightly smaller on the oregon chains which might be why they seem to cut much faster but be warned keep your chain tight coz the smaller chain links arent robust and chains can fly off easily
