  5. Cheers for that, looked on the website and it said the same. Picked one up cheap thats all, feels very gutsy.
  6. PS: That price is for the RFS Certificate in Arboriculture not the FdSc or the Bsc
  7. Ive been quoted £435 + £60 registration fee. There is the option to pay this monthly too rather than in one lump sum.
  8. Anyone had dealings with this saw, if so what do you think?
  9. I have exactly the same model with exactly the same problem. When left for a length of time it takes ages to start. Recently had it serviced and came back A1. Left it over winter without using and tried to start it the other day, now i have one arm that looks like popeyes and the other looks like Mr Beans . Must have took 15 mins of pulling to get it started but once it got running it was bang on and now starts within a few pulls.
  10. Come on guys, surely someones done it recently I reckon ive rung every trainer and college in the country and keep getting the same answer 'we used to do it but not anymore'.
  11. I hope so, ive applied and enrol in September.
  12. Ok ok, so i didnt see the inevitable pi$$ takes coming , and naively didnt take into account the thieving aspect of you all telling the world what you have in your sheds and lock ups . I will rephrase the original statement and ask, what do you think the best combination of saws would be for all round felling and ground work, but not climbing. I know i will get asked, depends on what size tree etc etc but im looking for a general overview rather than from a site specific aspect.
  13. Ok guys & gals time to show us what youve got, on the chainsaw front anyway. Whats your best combination of saws and why.
  14. Im looking for a similar position in my neck of thewoods but struglling to find anything and you have gone at it with my way of thinking, I think with your attitude and what you bring to the table in terms of contributing to extra income ideas and other maintenance issues you could prove invaluable as an employee and not just as someone who can look after the forestry side of things, i think its all about you as a bigger picture. Good luck with whatever you do and i hope it all works out for you.
  15. As a complete novice, but at 18 would he be that qualified to perform a task as big as that?
  16. What a cracking opportunity. Wonder if the mrs and kids would miss me.
  17. Despite several colleges and companies offering this course I have yet to find anyone nationwide who delivers it, has anyone else done this course if so where did you do it.
  18. Cheers muppetlab, have done the lantra level 2 in countryside management which focus's alot on practical woodland management and ecology so im partly grounded in what to expect from that, its the scientific/biology bits i may struggle with, and i know what you mean about the age thing, early forties means the old grey matters not what it used to be.
  19. No log dog, no second thoughts just dont want to be messed around. I like to do my research. And its at Myerscough.
  20. Thanks for your, err encouraging words. I know exactly what the course entails having read the prospectous, but if you read the post i was asking what to expect. Having read some posts it seems there is a problem with tutors responding. Just wondered if this was everyones view and what peoples view on the course was.
  21. Got a letter informing me that ive secured a place on the above course in september, its the online course and before i cough up for it just wondered what other peoples thoughts are on this course and what I should expect.
  22. Has anyone come across a process known as photocooperation between neighbouring tree roots that graft together and swap characteristics sometimes producing synchronous spring shoot growth? I have to write an essay on it and cannot seem to find any information about it.
