  1. ah well failed again - can't believe I forgot temperature and mass
  2. I can't get to 6 plus metre, will try Newton, Farad, Candela, Ampere, Second
  3. of course in a full blown civil war the US would have the luxury of using tactical 'battlefield' nukes. I feel sorry for Greta - the Iranians won't ride in to rescue her, as Trump's country has supplied Israel with "special' bombs that would prevent the Arabs from overrunning them. The IDF will show Greta et al footage of Hamas murders, but no footage of the thousands of murders of Palestinians in the occupied west bank by Israeli 'settlers' - illegal invaders. The settlers didnt do 1200 in one day, they like to spread their murders out - even though the US has a UN veto, the Isralis want to steal the land without being universally condemned Trump is at best a modern Chaimberlain, heading into Mussolini territory
  4. you sound sure about it, and maybe you're right, I will have to have a deeper dive tonight, unless someone can highlight a page where it explicitly says about the RPA payments, so an allotment could be cut in August say
  5. If it could be successfully argued that an allotment used only for household growing isn't agriculture, then it would appear 'legal' to trim it before, personally I can find 'safer' work less likeley to get a bollocking for that I would do and leave the allotment one till later, or even lose it if they aren't happy waiting, rather than try to become an expert in legal interpretation
  6. it doesn't have to be agricultural to fall under the new rules, personally I would leave it till first week in September I had a customer's neighbour hassle me about trimming a hedge going onto a pavement last year 'have you checked that for nests?' 'terrible the rate at which our wildlife is being destroyed' etc I could have argued about abating a nuisance, but she could have countered with, hand shears would have sufficed to cut back encroaching bramble. The bit in the screenshot below is what I would be worried about - bottom paragraph
  7. Putin doesn't have to put up with political rivals - Trump shouldn't either President Donald Trump on Saturday said there would be “serious consequences” if tech mogul Elon Musk funds Democratic candidates to run against Republicans who vote in favor of the GOP’s sweeping budget bill. “If he does, he’ll have to pay the consequences for that,” Trump told NBC News in a phone interview, but declined to share what those consequences would be. “He’ll have to pay very serious consequences if he does that,” he added.
  8. The Anglo French wars were on and off for nearly a thousand years. 1066 - 1815, pure luck we were born a bit later and didn't have to be dismembered just for the hell of it
  9. Nobody HAS to answer questions - they can slither off like snakey politicians do
  10. No he isn't. If you cant even tell him if you know the country of origin of coal you get delivered that is a bit sad. You often quote his posts wanting to give the lovely person's side of the argument, but refuse to be honest with him.
  11. We can't use this persons garden for a bet, but if we could, how much money would you bet on there being no green foliage left after 3 years with no pruning works in or other interventions, just left as they are? That scorch may not have completely ring barked the cambium layer. I take it you've seen fire damaged stuff like that die off over the years in areas where people have left it to see if it survives?
  12. so what? all the stuff people spend their spare money on - holidays they don't need, extra fashion clothes they don't need, gadgets they don't need. Do without all the luxuries to fund the best bombs ever
  13. If it was like Game of Thrones we could get Farage in before the next election, but it would need dragons and bloodshed
  14. and for older affectionados the Stihl walking frame
  15. I imagine there are many even most, perhaps the majority effing dreadful (whos descendents became modern day telesales scam shites). And I know there have been some remarkable ones too Srinivasa Ramanujan Aiyangar[a] FRS (22 December 1887 – 26 April 1920) was an Indian mathematician. Often regarded as one of the greatest mathematicians of all time, though he had almost no formal training in pure mathematics, he made substantial contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions, including solutions to mathematical problems then considered unsolvable.
  16. We were once colonial masters of India (and Pakistan) they had to suffer our brutal rule, maybe it's only fair we have to suffer them now. Having to put up with them now is our atonement for lording it over them with guns and steel. The British Army could still take back much of the old Empire and make Britain great again.
  17. never before realised all the people who plant Trachs are tasteless idiots. Everyday a school day
  18. Trachycarpus can make a nice specimen tree in a garden with enough space. No doubt they can do the damage you describe, as can flowering cherries and lots of other things people plant near driveways, paths, walls.
  19. They can't spend what they take already if what they take is reduced by lower taxes, it's either lower taxes and less spending, or lower taxes, the same spending and more debt If Trumps efficiency drive works properly the US debt pile should reduce by the next election. It really needs the efficiency drive AND no tax cuts if they want to stop wasting so much on interest payments.
  20. ^'keep most of their money' instead of being taxed sensibly to pay for public services, too many tax cuts mean the government has to borrow more to keep functioning And yes Trump is not doing it well if the tax cuts benefit people who are already well off. If people payed more tax the western world would not have 125% debt/gdp. Or they can do even more tax cuts and take the debt to Japan levels, 200% and more of GDP, wouldn't be at all surprised. Trump and all other popularity mechanisms don't care about future generations having to pay the interest coupons for their tax cut largess.
  21. the New Zealanders are commiting just as much crime as the other incomers, but they are better at it, so dont get caught
  22. looks like the top would have smashed up retained trees
  23. Interesting - I have had to read up on this period, and it is crucial to understanding how things got where they are today. The Israelis were apparently themselves terrorists back then (British Army Museum says so) and Israeli terrorist attacks on the Brits in Palestine eventually led to the Brits withdrawing Terrorism The main terrorist groups were Irgun Zvai Leumi (National Military Organisation) - ultimately led by future Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin - and an even more militant organisation, Lohamey Heruth Israel (Fighters for the Freedom of Israel) or LHI. The British called LHI the Stern Gang after its leader, Abraham Stern, who was killed in a clash with the Palestine Police in 1942. In November 1944, LHI assassinated the British Minister for the Middle East, Lord Moyne. The British Army in Palestine WWW.NAM.AC.UK In the 1940s, the British Army found itself stuck in the middle of a growing conflict between Arabs and Jews in Palestine. The momentous events that followed led to the creation of the State of...
  24. It doesn't make sense to say what I would do, as I haven't lived there, as either side. Saying what you'd do and what you'd actually do if you were really there are very different. Looking at the map of Gaza and the West Bank my very simplistic thoughts are that it would be better to have all Palestinian land in one contiguous mass, the West Bank was suposed to be Palestinian, but the Israelis now claim a big part of it as theirs . An international body could redraw the map and enforce the border. But judging by how all the countries have stayed out of the fight , Palestine is not worth helping, whereas Israel is
  25. Israel seem to want the same by stealth, slowly but surely push the Palestinians out of their homelands Explainer: Israel, annexation and the West Bank WWW.BBC.CO.UK Key questions about Israel's plan to annex parts of the occupied West Bank answered.
