Wondering if any companies out there might be after a hard working groundie/trainee climber this coming summer.Either part time or full time. I'm planning to relocate to the S. Devon area so will be happy travelling to Plymouth, Exeter and anywhere in between. I've got CS 30/31/38 and planning to do 39 in May. I've also got first aid, LANTRA 4x4, brushcutter and tractor tickets and a clean (post 97) driving licence. Also got own PPE and climbing kit. Punctual, motivated and good attitude to H+S. Passed CS38!!! :thumbup:Hell yeah! Really enjoyable course, great fun and learnt loads! I think the learning really begins now though! Best start saving for 39.....

Hay cut after flowers have dropped their seeds, this will help reduce fertility. Further reduce fertility by light/medium grazing with a few cows or sheep in autumn/winter. The light poaching of the ground they cause will allow for less competitive plant species to get established. You could also go down the line of buying in bales of species rich meadow hay and spreading it about, but maybe see what you've got first. Already mentioned I think that the more diversity of habitats you have the more diverse wildlife you'll get. Plant a few broadleaved trees, and hedgerows that can later be layed. Also, put in a couple of scrapes in areas where water will lie, (probably near your existing ponds. Surround with habitat piles for amphibians and reptiles to overwinter. Wish I had 4 acres to play with - have fun!

Planning on wearing my normal chainsaw boots (lace ups, not wellies!). Thinking good ankle support, good grip, waterproof and sturdy. Is there much real difference between climbing chainsaw boots and normal chainsaw boots? I'm guessing weight and price are the main issues!

Hey all, I'm starting CS38 in a couple of weeks and I'm wondering if anyones got any advice on clothing. I was thinking about wearing my normal chainsaw PPE as thats what I'll be wearing later anyway. Or should I not bother and make things easier on myself for my first bit of climbing? Any other advice would also be welcome. Greart forum BTW:001_smile:

Looking for some part time groundie work around the North Wilts area, but am willing to travel, within reason! I’ve got CS30 and 31 and I’m booked onto my CS38 in Oct. I’m looking to build up knowledge and experience (and a bit of extra cash) before then. Worked as a groundie for a year, some years ago but have been working in land management in one way or another for several years since then. I do work full time so will be looking for work on my days off, which are fairly random and usually on weekdays. I would be happy to work at short notice if I’m available. I’ve got First aid, Lantra 4x4 and Tractor if that helps. Also, clean post 97 driving licence and own PPE. Hardworking, motivated, punctual and good attitude toward H+S. Cheers!
