  1. My recommendation would be start of with imove then progress to FCP both those programs are for a mac. Two other tips try and keep the camera as steady as possible or your project will look like the blare witch project. When you edit try to cut your shots down to 4 seconds or so, people, tend to switch off after that you may find your shots interesting but your viewers won't.
  2. The Loire valley in France ! My understanding leaf moth is rife throughout Europe. Last year we cut back one of the HC this year its leaves have lasted longer than the other trees. So may do the same to the other trees along with other measures. The Cedar is the sad one as its such a great tree These are another two of our cedars but these ones are in great condition
  3. Well said that man. Now I have been reading this thread with interest. Lee are you saying that any one that owns a large estate is fare game? Let me tell you if I found you nicking anything on my land you would be on the receiving end of two barrels full of shot and that would be the end of it. It does not matter if you live on an estate of which I do and have brought through hard work or if live in a flat in Moss Side it does not matter, whats in your home on your land it is yours theft is theft.
  4. Fungus, I did read the thread with interest I am not a council nor do I have the resorses sadly. We have a number of HC the ones that are located in our park ,I have been giving extra water, as I read some where that will benefit the trees all the HC leaves are burnt. Off topic but the French use the conkers as deterrents for spiders you often see conkers on their window cills. As for the cedar Ill try the mulch and also going to remove all the dead branches when our new climber arrives ;-)

    Acacia

Rover not sure why it was dead the section of forest we took them out of was hugely overcrouded nor the type of acacia but here is a couple of pics. I had heard that it almost as good as oak ;-) happy days as they grow very quickly. This is a small Acacia not in the forest but the same as the trees we took down. One of the logs no fungus etc This shows how over crowded they were. Some pics of other trees still to be taken down
  6. We have two covered stores and one that exposed and still being worked on that I will need to cover in the winter.

    Acacia

Do any of you guys burn acacia ? As we have cut down 100s of dead trees this summer. My other question is regarding seasoning we have been cutting it in to 1m lengths and splitting it how long should it take to season once split ?

  13. We burn all the leaves as its affecting all our HC's ;-(
  14. Will try that ,as we have some stunning trees that I would not want to loose. Most of the trees are healthy bar that one the only trees that are suffering at the moment are the horse chestnuts as they have leaf moth and are dropping there leaves already.
  15. Thanks for the info will now watch out for white rot may post some pictures of mushrooms if I find any in the forest and they look dodgy !
  16. I am not convinsed that it is Honey Fungus as I have never seen any signs of fungus is that normal? The tree looks like it has been sick for a number of years I have only been here a year. Any suggestions for treatment ? Our new forester will arrive in September I hope he will have some ideas.
  17. Hi all, As you know I am not a forester nor a tree surgeon but I do however own a forest thus have a vested interest in trees and we have some beautiful old trees in the gardens. Now to my question we have a number of Wellingtonia trees and very large cedars. One of the Wellingtonia is in poor health there are two next to each other the biggest is tall and healthy. The bark has been stripped back 3 feet from the ground up, I believe by animals in the past it also has had ivy strangling it now cut back. The issue is one side of the tree is in good condition the other side is dead any suggestions of what could be wrong or how I can help the tree. This picture is of both trees the smaller one is in poor health. This one shows the stripped bark ;-( This one shows the unhealthy side.
  18. Position now provisionally filled thank you to all those that applied. To those still interested please still email me and ill keep you posted if there is another vacancy comes up.
